The Phiaton Moderna MS 200 Earbuds look cool and sound awesome. Listeners will love them, but so will their neighbors. That’s not a good thing!
When we opened the Phiaton Moderna MS 200 we had high expectations thanks to the quality packaging and cool look. The Phiaton copy on their website describes them as having an “opulent red and black design,” and we agree. They look cool.
Phiaton included a nice leather tubular case to carry around the earbuds. The cords feel like rubber and we hoped that would keep them from tangling in a pocket. We were wrong, making the tubular case necessary.
After we plugged the Moderna MS 200 earbuds into an iPhone and started to play some music, they blew us away. They create a crisp sound with strong bass. Every other set of earbuds we owned sounded lesser in comparison.
Phiaton brags that their great sound comes from a “dual-chamber and 5 tuning points engineered to accelerate airflow.” Audiophiles might get why that boosts the quality, but we just know they sound nice. Even at max volume they don’t distort and continue to produce rich sound.
Phiaton Moderna MS 200 Sound Bleed
However, there’s a single huge problem with these earbuds for good citizens. The person sitting next to you on the airplane, or across the room in a library, will also hear everything coming through them. To prove this, listen to the demo below. We played some music while wearing the earbuds. We used an iPhone about a half a foot from the ear to record the clip below.

Earbuds bleed sound and we get that. For $119, at Amazon, we expected better. A person sitting across a pretty large room said, “I can hear everything perfectly.” This person could hear enough to sing along with the volume set to 75%.
Benefits of Phiaton Moderna MS 200 Earbuds
Aside from the sound bleed, these earbuds produce great sound and work well. They’re comfortable and light. The nice carrying case helps keep them from tangling in a pocket or bag.
Phone users get a microphone so they can talk to people on the phone while wearing the Phiaton Moderna MS 200 earbuds. The button on the mic pauses media while using an iPhone or iPad.
The buyer also gets six different ear tips to cover the earbuds. One set is foam, while another four are traditional earbud covers. Then we get a set that covers the entire head of the Moderna MS 200 earbuds. Even people with small ear canals can wear these comfortably for extended listening sessions.
The Phiaton Moderna MS 200 earbuds only work for those who listen to music while alone or in loud environments where the sound bleed won’t bother other people. They sound great and fit nicely, feeling comfortable in the ears.
