Next Thursday, Samsung is hosting an Unpacked event at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The company is mum about what it will be announcing, but rumors suggest that it will be the Samsung Galaxy S4, a smartphone that has been in rumors since last year and will be replacing the Samsung Galaxy S3 as the company’s flagship device.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is said to be coming with touch less gestures and better battery life.

Rumors have been swirling in regards to the Galaxy S4 release date, its hardware and its software and the most recent rumors seem to shed light on several o the device’s specifics.

According to SamMobile, which has been accurate in the past, the Samsung Galaxy S4 will indeed feature touch less screen gestures which will allow owners to manipulate things on the screen simply by hovering over them with their finger. The technology has been seen in lesser phones like the Sony Xperia Sola and Pantech Vega 4G LTE but never in a phone of the Galaxy S4′s caliber.

Samsung has included similar technology inside the Galaxy Note 2′s S-Pen, where users can use the pen to hover over content to get a sneak preview, but this takes it a step further as there will be no stylus involved.

In addition, the device’s AMOLED display is said to be made of a new “green PHOLED” material, which will evidently make the device’s display up to 25% more efficient than other AMOLED displays.

The Galaxy S4 is also rumored to be running Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean out of the box with an upgrade to Android 4.2.2, the most recent version of Jelly Bean, coming soon after it is released and once again Samsung Orb is mentioned as one of the unique features that Samsung will be adding to its latest version of TouchWiz Nature UX.

Other possible features include Smart Scroll and Smart Pause which will allow users to control content on the Galaxy S4′s display, simply by shifting their eyes and or head.

It appears that the 13MP camera, that has been rumored all along, will be on board though it’s unclear if it’s made by Sony. And it also apparently will sport 2GB of RAM to help with multitasking and gaming.

Much of this lines up with what we’ve heard previously about Samsung’s Next Big Thing but of course, we won’t know for certain what will be on board the device until Samsung takes the curtain down on March 14th in New York.
