Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 5.0 Feature Possibly Revealed
The Samsung Galaxy S4, which earlier today was rumored to be getting Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie in the future, now has seen a possible Android 5.0 feature revealed as Samsung Orb, a feature that was rumored to be coming with the Galaxy S4 at launch, has been rumored to be coming with the device’s Android 5.0 update.
Prior to last week’s launch of the Samsung Galaxy S4, rumors swirled about the device’s on board software. While rumors zeroed in, and did so correctly, on Android 4.2, there were also whispers about some of the software features that Samsung could put aboard the Galaxy S4. Some of those rumored features did materialize in the form of Smart Scroll and Smart Pause while others, didn’t arrive as expected.
One of the features that was rumored for the Galaxy S4 pre-launch but didn’t arrive was Samsung Orb, a feature that mirrors Google’s Android 4.2 Photo Sphere function and allows owners to take 360-degree panoramic photos. Oddly, the feature did not arrive with the Galaxy S4 and was left out of last week’s announcement.
According to SamMobile, Samsung Orb could make its way to the Samsung Galaxy S4, only it may arrive with Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie rather than in an incremental update or a later update. This is not confirmed and it could be that the feature is left off the device altogether in favor of Photo Sphere but until Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie rolls out, we won’t know.
It’s unclear just when Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie will roll out to the new device though given its rumored May announcement and timing in the past, we don’t expect the Galaxy S4 to get Android 5.0 until the middle part of the year or even later than that.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 did however get some powerful camera features that should hold owners over until then. Those include a feature called Dual Mode that allows users to capture photos using both the front and rear cameras and another called Sound & Shot which adds a little audio to a photograph.
It also includes a 5-inch 1080p display, quad-core processor, 13MP camera and a release date that will first emerge in late April.
