The Nexus 7 2 remains unofficial though rumors have firmed up ahead of its launch and point to a release in late July with July 30th emerging as the most likely candidate for the new Nexus 7 release date.
While tomorrow’s Google event remains a bit of a mystery, it’s clear that the company is poised to make two big announcements regarding its Android platform. The first, a new Android update called Android 4.3 which will likely roll out to its Nexus devices in the near future and hit other devices several months in the future. The second, is the rumored Nexus 7 2 tablet that has emerged in a handful of rumors lately and appears as though it will hit shelves shortly after Google announces it.
Rumors have already pointed to a Nexus 7 2 release date in late July and today, more evidence has surfaced indicating that the Nexus 7 2 release should fall in and around July 30th.
The new evidence comes in the form of a Best Buy inventory screenshot, courtesy of 9to5Google, that clearly shows a street date of July 30th for the new Nexus 7. This lines up with a previous leak, a Best Buy flyer, that indicated that the company was going to be releasing the device on July 30th. That date does fall a day ahead of the original July 31st leak though it’s clear that whatever the case may be, late July is going to be the Nexus 7 2 release window.
A date for the Google Play Store remains out of reach though we imagine that a release date could fall on the same day as retailers. So while nothing is official, Nexus 7 2 buyers should know that a release date is more than likely coming soon.
The Nexus 7 2 is expected to be an upgrade from the previous Nexus 7 and include a 7-inch display with 1920 x 1200 resolution, quad-core processor, 5MP rear camera, slim design and 4G LTE support.
The device is however expected to command a steeper price tag with $230 and $280 pegged as the likely price tags for the 16GB and 32GB Wi-Fi only variants of the new Nexus 7.
