iOS 7 Beta 4 Release Arrives With Fresh Lock Screen

By  |  11 Comments

After a week delay the iOS 7 beta 4 release is here and iOS 7 beta 4 downloads are underway for developers testing the iOS 7 software ahead of the fall release.

Apple pushed the iOS 7 beta 4 OTA update live to the iPhone, iPod touch iPad and iPad mini around 1 PM Eastern Monday.

The iOS 7 beta 4 download is nearly 300MB on the Verizon iPhone 5 and delivers unknown big fixes and performance enhancements.

At this point iOS 7 beta users can go to Settings -> General -> Software Update to check for the iOS 7 beta 4 download. Users who are already on an iOS 7 beta should update soon as the previous betas expire after a set amount of time.

The iOS 7 beta 4 includes a slightly re-vamped lock screen with a new arrow for slide to unlock and flat bars for the Notification Center and Control Center.

The Apple Developer Center still shows the last iOS 7 beta download files, but those will likely be updated to iOS 7 beta 4 within the next hour or two.

Apple recovered from a week of downtime after a hacker exposed developer information. Apple is still working on the Apple Developer Center and one important part of the iOS 7 beta 4 release remains offline. At this point the iOS 7 beta 4 release notes are not online. While the release notes typically trail the OTA update slightly, the Apple Developer Center Status shows the Pre-Release Documentation is down and the last iOS 7 beta release notes remain offline.

Even without the release notes, predictions that the iOS 7 beta 4 will deliver more new user-interface changes arrive and predictions that the downtime did not delay the iOS 7 release this fall. We can expect several more iOS 7 betas before the official release, possibly a beta 5 and beta 6 ahead of the final iOS 7 beta.

iOS 7 should arrive to all users this fall, shortly ahead of the iPhone 5S release date if Apple follows tradition. Based on the latest iPhone 5S release date rumors Apple could be preparing the device and iOS 7 for a release in the third week of September.

We are in the process of installing the iOS 7 beta 4 release and will be looking for new iOS 7 features, bug fixes and other changes in the latest version of Apple’s new software.

Using iOS 7 – Beta 3 – I’ve been trying to update but it keeps showing an Update Error or “Checking for Update…”

    What’s going on?

restart your phone. make sure wifi is on. and try again. if not manually download the ipsw restore file. Make sure you have more that 3gb free for the update.

The lock screen still looks a little untidy for me. My wifi indicator still overlaps the notification centre slide down bar slightly.
