Accessory makers are looking to capitalize on the attention generated by rumored devices and joining the fray is Otterbox who has teased support for both the unannounced iPhone 5S and Apple’s upcoming iPad, the iPad 5.
The well-known case maker doesn’t show off any of the cases that it has in store for future iPhone 5S owners and iPad 5 owners though it does say that it will have them covered once the devices are announced. The company claims that it doesn’t know what’s coming next but that owners who are planning to buy these devices will be able to protect them using an Otterbox case.
Otterbox is known for its rugged cases that keep the iPhone, and iPad, protected from the elements. While some cases are bulky, others, like the iPhone 5’s OtterBox Commuter Series Case, are much smaller and are still able to protect the iPhone and iPad from water and dust.
Apple’s iPhone 5S is expected to share a design similar to the iPhone 5 which could mean that Otterbox’s older cases will work with the newer model. If that’s the case, we could see Otterbox upgrade its current line of iPhone 5 cases in an effort to entice iPhone 5S customers with new functionality and new looks.
Unlike some manufacturers, Otterbox isn’t taking pre-orders for its iPhone 5S and iPad 5 cases, and likely won’t announce anything until after the iPhone 5S event on September 10th.
Apple recently confirmed an event for September 10th wherein the company is expected to debut an iPhone 5S and an iPhone 5C. The iPhone 5S is thought to be coming with several upgrades over the iPhone 5 including a better camera, processor and fingerprint reader. It’s expected to come equipped with iOS 7 as well.
The iPad 5 is rumored to be coming later in the year with rumors suggesting an arrival alongside the iPad mini 2 in October. If true, the device’s could come in November just ahead of the holiday shopping push.
