Apple’s new iPhone 5S is replacing the iPhone 5 on carriers and will launch with the new iPhone 5C as well.

Phil Schiller calls the “iPhone 5S most forward thinking phone we’ve ever created.”

Apple plans to deliver both of these new iPhones as an options for users to buy in place of the iPhone 5, though the company has not announced what will happen to the iPhone 4S.

What the average user will enjoy is the boost in performance. Apple claims the new iPhone 5S A7 processor is twice as fast at CPU tasks and twice as fast at GPU tasks which means big jumps in everyday and gaming performance. The new processor supports OpenGL ES 3.0, the industry standard for graphics on mobile devices, which Android 4.3 supports as well.

A new CoreMotion API combines with the Apple M7 motion co processor to constantly measure data for health and fitness apps by measuring data while the iPhone is asleep.

iPhone 5S Battery Life

The iPhone 5S battery life is rated at equal to or greater than the iPhone 5.

  • 3G Talk Time – 10 hours
  • 3G Data – 8 hours
  • LTE browsing – 10 hours
  • WiFi browsing – 10 hours
  • Video – 10 hours
  • Music – 40 hours
  • Standby – 250 hours

This is up to 2 hours of more talking on 3G and surfing on LTE than the iPhone 5. And 25 hours of more standby.

iPhone 5S Camera

The iPhone 5S  comes with a new camera system that uses a larger sensor and the same 5 element lens. The iPhone 5S camera comes with a 15% larger sensor and a f/2.2 aperture. Like the HTC One, Apple is focusing on larger pixels that let the iPhone 5S capture more light, better colors and less noise. Apple says the iOS 7 update is designed to maximize the capabilities of this camera.

The iPhone 5S has DSLR level autofucus according to Apple and it can take multiple photo at once and pick the best looking one for the user. Apple says the iPhone 5S camera shoots at 10fps, which allows a user to hold the camera button and take 20 photos in 2 seconds and the A7 processor will analyze the photos to show the user the best looking photo. This is similar to what we’ve seen on Android phones like the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 2.

The iPhone 5S also features a new Dual-LED flash that adapts to the scene in real time. Apple claims the new dual-LED flash can combine to flash in 1,000 different colors to match the room.

Apple also includes slo-motion video. The iPhone 5S can take 120fps video at 720P. This will let users show video at super slow speeds without dramatically altering quality.

The iPhone 5S can take 28MP panorama shots for better looking wide photos using the built-in Panoramic photo tool in iOS 7.

iPhone 5S Security – Fingerprint Reader

The iPhone 5S comes with a fingerprint reader, which Apple calls Touch ID. This fingerprint sensor reads the fingerprint at a high level, 500 ppi according to Apple.

Apple embeds a fingerprint sensor in the iPhone 5S home button. The thin sensor is placed below a Sapphire glass cover and a steel ring around the new home button.

Users don’t need to swipe, as the sensor can scan the finger when users place it on the home button. The fingerprint does not travel to Apple.

It was just a very disappointed evening; all the facts were available thru bloggers and websites weeks before Tim Cook said “hello” on the stage and just like a movie where you know how it is gonna end, the Event wasn’t one. Missing the fresh and innovative, missing the thrill and the surprise, something Apple used to do. Now it is just a pricey tech corporation with little to fascinate with and others took over the market while Apple was sleeping. New iOS7 icons. Whoa. 64 Bit iPhone? Who cares? No, really, it is just like with cameras; at one point the majority stopped caring about megapixels — 12 MP – 32 MP – 44 MP? What do i need that for? I just want a friggin photo. And just like that I do not care about 64 Bit iPhone. Better graphics, faster. Great. It is a feature I need. No, I need a reason to buy an iPhone 5s because the plastic iPhone 5c is about 40% to expensive. And the reason is non existent. Really, I am happy with an iPhone 4s or even iPhone 4, so the new iPhone 5s does not give me anything what I really urge for. And that 2 years static Apple development is not something we need. I think they lost it. Winxer – http://www.podmod.de
