The iPhone 5C pre-order time at Sprint has been set for 2AM CST, or midnight on the west coast, which means that Apple and the other iPhone 5C carriers including AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon will likely be offering the iPhone 5C early on Friday as well.
Yesterday, Apple confirmed two brand new iPhones, the iPhone 5C and the iPhone 5S. The iPhone 5S will be the company’s premium smartphone and it, along with the iPhone 5C, will be going on sale on September 20th. And while we don’t think there will be an iPhone 5S pre-order, there definitely will be an iPhone 5C pre-order ahead of September 20th for those that want to buy early.
Apple announced that iPhone 5C pre-orders would start on September 13th, or this Friday, ahead of September 20th. The company will begin taking pre-orders on its website and pre-orders for the iPhone 5C should be available at AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon as well. What wasn’t clear though was when the pre-orders would start.
Traditionally, iPhone pre-orders have started at midnight on the day of the pre-order and unsurprisingly, Sprint has confirmed this to be the case for the iPhone 5C.
On its splash page, the company says that pre-orders will begin at 2AM CST, which is 3AM EST and midnight for those on PST. This means that those who want to get the new iPhone 5C as soon as possible will need to stay up late in order to buy one. That, or set an early alarm.
In years past, Apple’s website, along with carrier websites, have struggled to handle the amount of people attempting to pre-order so those who want to buy will need to show up to the pre-order early with wallet in hand. These issues may have caused Apple to back away from a iPhone 5S pre-order, something that doesn’t seem to be happening.
Should the pre-order sell out, those who miss it will have to brave retail stores on September 20th in order to pick up the iPhone 5C or iPhone 5S. Apple retail stores and carrier stores should have both in stock on day one.
The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will be pushing the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4 out of Apple’s lineup, joining the iPhone 4S. The iPhone 5S will start at the usual $199.99 price point while the iPhone 5C will be offered starting at $99.99, taking the place of the iPhone 4S.
