Why It’ll Be Very Tough to Get iPhone 5s You Want at Release

The iPhone 5s is going to be very hard to buy on release day, especially for users who want to buy an iPhone 5s with 64GB of storage or who want to buy the white or gold iPhone 5s which will be in very short supply according to early inventory reports.

This news comes on the heels of an iPhone 5s pre-order and in store pickup sell out at Apple Stores in China and on an analyst report that the iPhone 5s supply will be limited due to the Touch ID fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button.

Apple did not take iPhone 5s pre-orders in the U.S. and it looks like it could be due to plans to get as many of the iPhone 5s units in stores as possible.

Apple Retail Stores are likely to get the largest number of units in stock for Friday, and news of what these shipments are looking like is not promising for anyone who is thinking about waiting in line or ordering an iPhone 5s on release day.

The iPhone 5S release date supplies look low at Apple Stores and at carriers.

9to5Mac reports that Apple Stores are getting shipments of the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s right already for the Friday release, and early shipments are heavily tipped in favor of the iPhone 5c, taking 70-80% of the stock.

When it comes to the iPhone 5s release date supply, 9to5Mac claims shipping details point to a very tough day for anyone who wants a gold or white iPhone 5s. Mark Gurman writes,

“three out of every four units will be a Space Gray model. The white/silver and white/gold options will be hard to come by at launch…”

Apple Stores will also carry more of the AT&T iPhone 5s than of the Verizon iPhone 5s and the 64GB iPhone 5s will also be particularly tough to buy on release day.

During the iPhone 5s launch, a local Verizon store opened with roughly 50 iPhone 5 units on hand, according to employees chatting up those waiting in line, but only 4 of those models were 64GB models.

AllThings D reports that carrier locations are expecting, “Grotesquely” low iPhone 5s stock on release day. AllThings D’s second carrier source suggests that the iPhone 5s demand may be overblown, and that the iPhone 5c’s colors are what consumers are interested in.

Gotta Be Mobile’s own checks with carrier contacts turned up empty as local stores are still waiting for the iPhone 5s shipment information to arrive and for any iPhone 5s units to make it to their locations.

Gurman claims Apple will update the Apple Store iPhone app to let users find an iPhone 5s in stock at a local store as early as next week. In 2012 Apple offered next day iPhone 5 reservations for in store pickup several days after the iPhone release date.

iPhone 5s pre-orders are selling for $250 to $500 more than street value on eBay, despite the inability of any seller top guarantee release day buying and next day delivery.

Articles like these are a joke I believe Apple puts this out there to drive demand oh no Id better hurry. I was in the market for one myself, but am going back and forth on what do get, LG G2 or the Iphone 5S. That’s my dilemma , not as clear cut as it use to be when the iphone first came out. All the apps I use on the iphone they have on android and music can be transferred. Ill decide Friday.

Maybe they know that people are catching on to the fact that this thing is going to hand over your fingerprints to the NSA and they lost almost all demand for it overnight.
