iOS 7 Jailbreak for iPhone 4 Successful, But Cydia MIA

The hallmark of a new IOS version is the rush to tweak and modify it and it appears that the iOS 7 jailbreak is here for the iPhone 4, at least in part.

The iPhone 4 is one of the last devices that hackers can jailbreak quickly and the iOS 7 jailbreak for the iPhone 4 is already here, at least for Jailbreak developers and tinkerers.

This iPhone 4 iOS 7 jailbreak is available from OpenSn0w, which offers an iOS 7 jailbreak tool for windows users to free up the iPhone 4.

The iOS 7 jailbreak is possible on the iPhone 4, but it is tethered and doesn't come with access to Cydia.

The iOS 7 jailbreak for the iPhone 4 is not ready for the average jailbreak user yet as it is a tethered jailbreak. This means users will need to have the iPhone 4 plugged in to a computer any time it reboots to avoid losing functionality.

Another limiting factor is that there is no support for Cydia. According to Robert A. Peterson, this is mainly useful for Jailbreak developers.

While any news of an iOS 7 jailbreak is good news, the iPhone 4′s Apple A4 processor makes it an easier target for an iOS 7 jailbreak than newer devices like the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s.

At this point the iPhone 4 iOS 7 jailbreak is not going to help most users upgrade their iPhone 4 to iOS 7 and keep jailbreak tweaks, but in the past we’ve seen iPhone 4 jailbreaks mature quickly into something you can actually use.

The iPhone 5s jailbreak or iOS 7 jailbreak for the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4s will likely take much longer. The very good news is that members of the Evad3rs are working on the iOS 7 jailbreak and a key member is, “confident” about the ability to jailbreak iOS 7.

Even as the team talks about confidence in their abilities for an iPhone 5s jailbreak or an iOS 7 jailbreak, they caution a release is not close at hand.

The iOS 7 jailbreak will not likely come for some time, even if the team is able to make fast progress on the iOS 7 jailbreak progress speculation is that they will wait for the iOS 7.1 release before sharing the iOS 7 jailbreak with the public. The reasoning behind this is to give the jailbreak the most time to be active before a major version upgrade.

Last year the iOS 6 jailbreak for the iPhone 5 and other devices came in late January soon after the iOS 6.1 release. This was an untethered jailbreak, which is what we expect the Evad3rs will likely aim for during work on the iOS 7 jailbreak.

@IPHONE4EVER??: The fact that you clarified yourself shows you know you were not clear or relevant in your original post, so maybe you should get a life instead of going around insulting people? Use some of that negative energy and turn it into something useful, like learning grammar…

iPhone will get a bigger screen as the more people want that and it is kind of the trend for every phone. Also iOS 7 is shit and shudnt have been released yet for obvious reasons APPLE!!!! Now pod2g is thinking of leaving and he is a massive factor in the jailbreaking community!!

    • Javier Suarez says

Agreed! If pod2g leaves jailbreaking behind jailbreaks will never be the same and will take forever to release!

That was a rumour started by Cult of Droid, he’s still part of the iOS scene. The reason why this is taking longer is because only one guy is actually working on it. We can only speculate what these guys are doing, there are like only 4 guys in the world who do this stuff. I think they are just being more secretive, because they didn’t expect Apple to break eVasi0n so quick, but even that kicked 4 iOS’s asses. What was it, 6.0, 6.0.1, 6.0.2, 6.1, 6.1.1 and 6.1.2? actually that’s 6 iOS’s and Apple was pumping out the updates about once a week in February. Hell, they could have been charging for jailbreak all these years, but they never have.

If I still had my iPhone 4 I’d install iOS 7 and do this in an instant. That way I could at least take a look at the filesystem of iOS 7. But this is great news, the news I was waiting for. I have a 4S so hopefully I’ll be able to upgrade to iOS 7 soon, and I wanna do it. But not until cYdia is working.

Bah, it only took me 2 months to set up my Theme for iOS 6.x, I had to rename all of the little images manually one by one on my PC, and that was hard cos I had optimised the PNGs so I could not preview them.

  5. mahdi taki says

dud your photo is photo shop cause i ded see aser web and the icon of cydia is’ent like the ios6 icon . sow stop dowing thath

    • xweaponx says

You mean in the Photo for this farticle? No, it’s the right iCon. But mine looks different cos of a Theme, when I turn off my Theme, that’s what it looks like. Actually it looks like that now cos the app is inside of a folder and the theme has trouble applying the new image.

  6. iOS 7 Jailbreak Guide says

iOS 7 is jailbreak able since the very first day on A4 devices, but Evad3rs and other members decided to develop tools that allow users to easily get their self on beta jailbreak in iOS 7. Therefore, we have not seen anything coming out publicly.
