HTC is doing a fine job with upgrading its flagship smartphone the HTC One to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Delivering the latest Android OS to the device faster than most other manufacturers. However, carriers aren’t making it so easy. After reporting on both Sprint and AT&T getting the latest and greatest, following the international model, two carriers remain on outdated software.
Today HTC informed us via its product support page that the HTC One on another carrier is getting the update, and you’ll be surprised to see who. Yes, C-Spire Wireless is now also getting updated to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean well ahead of bigger carriers like T-Mobile and Verizon. We all know big red doesn’t have a good track record with timely updates, but T-Mobile is usually one of the best. Not this time around sadly.
It isn’t T-Mobile or Verizon, and it surely isn’t US Cellular or some of the other regional carriers. Instead, it’s the 8th largest carrier in the US down from the deep deep South. C-Spire Wireless is issuing the software update to 4.3 JB for the HTC One. While many many owners on Verizon sit back and wait.
Yesterday we heard the Verizon update is still on track, which will likely arrive sometime in the latter days of October, and the latest word from HTC is that the T-Mobile flavor is up next with a deliver date penciled in for mid-October. So while they aren’t technically “next” in line, these carriers are the important ones that will be getting updated next.

For those curious the C-Spire update is rolling out as we speak and is version 2.04.563.3, will bring Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, and an improved Sense UI experience all around. As usual you’ll want to head into settings > about phone > and tap check for updates to get the latest and greatest. Stay tuned this weekend to see what’s new with 4.3 for the HTC One.
Don’t worry Verizon and T-Mobile customers. Your update will arrive soon enough. In the meantime enjoy some beats with those front facing speakers.
