iPad mini 2 Release Date & Price Confirmed

By  |  4 Comments

Apple today announced the iPad mini 2, a device that will replace the original iPad mini. The company, as expected, revealed the iPad mini 2 release date and price giving the new slate a release date in November but a steeper $399 price, a $70 increase from the original iPad mini.

Rumors suggested that Apple would be debuting two new iPads at today’s event in San Francisco and unsurprisingly, those rumors panned out as Apple confirmed a new iPad Air (iPad 5) and a new, iPad mini 2 with Retina Display.

Today, Apple pegged the iPad mini 2 with a steeper $399 price tag, different from the price that came with the original iPad mini. The price will be $70 more than the original iPad mini which started at $330. The 32GB iPad mini 2 will start at $499, 64GB iPad mini 2 at $599 and the 128GB iPad mini 2 will command a $699 price tag.

Apple is dropping the price of the original iPad mini down to $299 for those looking to snag a new iPad with a budget price. It will join the iPad 5, now known as the iPad Air, and the iPad 2 in Apple Stores. The iPad Air will cost a familiar $499 while the iPad 2 will come with a $399 price tag.

It appears that the iPad mini 2 won’t be joining the iPad Air on November 1st as Apple didn’t commit to a date as Apple did not reveal a specific release date, only saying November. Rumors suggested that Apple was experiencing supply issues and it could be that that is the reason it did not reveal a concrete release date.

The company did, however, say that the devices would both be out for the holidays so we expect Apple to deliver the device on schedule in November. Apple did not announce pre-orders for the iPad mini 2 or the iPad 5, meaning, we could see them go on sale on their release dates.

The iPad mini 2 will be coming with an assortment of upgrades including a brand new, 7.9-inch Retina Display with high resolution, something that Apple kept off the original iPad mini. The device will be coming with an A7 processor, just like the new iPad Air (iPad 5) and it will come with brand new Wi-Fi, extended LTE support and a new iSight camera. The device will run iOS 7.

Why ipad air do not have finger ID

      One of two reasons!
      A) because a german group, CCC, already hacked it! LOL
      Or more likely…
      B) Because phones keep more sensitive material and the demand is low concerning tablets at this point. The finger ID is fairly inexpensive to add per unit, so it wasn’t done for cost. There wasn’t a big demand, so they never included it in the build planning. So far as having it included in the 5s, that’s a test run to see if people like it or not. If it’s completely lame, Apple will abandon it while keeping the phone price identical in the future. Saves them $30-some-odd-dollars per phone to make, times millions of handsets manufactured.
Either way, fingerprint ID is a joke. People leave their fingerprints EVERYWHERE. That’s like leaving your password everywhere. All you gotta do is make a mold copy and lay it back down over the button. If you wanna get in that bad, you’ll find a way. CCC already did it and made a youtube video about it.
And iPhone will never do Retina scanning of your eyeball because then nobody would be able to access their phone unless it was a clearly bright day or unless you shine a light in your eyes everytime you wanna unlock the darn thing.
HAHA, it’d be funny, though, to do DNA scanning. People’d be licking their phones to access it. That’d be hysterical.
Needless to say, the only true way to have truly protected phones like that is to have a bio-feedback chip surgically implanted in your fingertip (and make sure nobody comes and cuts your finger off to gain access to your phone), then you would open the device with that finger each time (or thumb if you prefer).
That’s it and that’s all. And that’s a little too much. Maybe we can get close by having a chip embedded in a fingernail but that would look weird or trashy. And fingernails grow from the cuticle not the tip. So… yeah. There’s that.
AH WELL, I GUESS WE WILL NEVER HAVE A PERFECT SYSTEM. And that’s the point, so why add the cost of a crappy system to the new iPad? It’s best to keep the cost down for now. :)
      TL;DR?
