Earlier this week, Apple announced the iPad Air, its new full-sized tablet that will be coming to shelves starting November 1st. However, a second iPad Air release date has just been confirmed by U.S. Cellular, the United States’ fifth-largest carrier, with the new iPad Air scheduled to go on sale starting November 8th for U.S. Cellular’s 4G LTE network.
On Tuesday, Apple introduced the brand new iPad Air. The sleek, 9.7-inch slate will be joined by the iPad mini 2 this holiday season and it will be doing so with a brand new slim, lightweight design, an A7 processor with 64-bit support, a new iSight camera, iOS 7, and optional 4G LTE data speeds for U.S. carriers.
AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon all confirmed the iPad Air for arrival and they will all be getting the device on November 1st. Today, we have learned that the U.S. Cellular iPad Air will be heading to U.S. Cellular on November 8th, the same day that the carrier plans to launch the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c on its 4G LTE network.
The carrier confirmed that there will be no pre-order for the iPad Air, unsurprising given the lack of a pre-order at other carriers, and that means that the first day of availability will come just a few days into next month. U.S. Cellular says that it will be offering its usual range of data plans to those that want to take their iPad Air to its growing 4G LTE network.
U.S. Cellular’s 4G LTE network trails behind AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon in terms of size but customers are still going to be able to pull down fast data speeds when the iPad Air is in range of 4G LTE.
It’s not clear if the company will offer the new iPad mini with Retina Display but we imagine that it will given that it will be offering the iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c and iPad Air. Apple’s iPad mini 2 isn’t expect to touch down until later in November, specific release date unknown.
