Unlock Your Mac with Knock iOS App and Bluetooth 4.0

Published

on

This looks to be a neat little App and/or party trick. Knock is a new iOS and Mac App that running together allow you to simply knock on your iPhone to securely unlock your Mac. Using Bluetooth 4.0 technology the process can save you a few keystrokes when it comes to logging into your Mac. The two Apps pair together specifically, creating a secure connection. Even more interesting you don’t have to open the Knock App on your iPhone for this to work.

One of the supposed Holy Grails of mobile computing is to be able to use your smartphone to eliminate passwords simply by making your smartphone your password, in a manner of speaking. Because Knock is use Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy it shouldn’t be a drain on your battery.

  • 2012 Mac Pro or newer
  • 2012 iMac or newer
  • 2011 MacBook Air or newer
