Samsung Galaxy S5 Features Falling Into Place

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy S5 hasn’t been announced yet but already, we’re seeing its feature set firm up well ahead of next year’s launch date. The device is already all but confirmed to be coming with a next-gen 64-bit processor and now, it appears that a Samsung Galaxy S5 16MP camera sensor with ISOCELL technology is also all but confirmed to be on board the next-gen Galaxy S.

While the Samsung Galaxy S5 is at least a few months away from touching down on shelves, we’ve already seen a host of rumors pour out, rumors that point to its design, processor, camera, and more. More importantly, we’ve started to see Galaxy S5 features start to firm up ahead of launch thanks to numerous leaks and confirmations by Samsung itself.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 release date is rumored for February.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 release date is rumored for February.

One feature that is all but confirmed to be on board the Galaxy S5 is a new, high-performance processor that could be of the Exynos 6 variety. The processor is almost certainly going to come with 64-bit support thanks to a confirmation from Samsung itself. It did not mention the Galaxy S5 by name but it said that devices arriving next year would have it on board.

The same treatment have been given to the Galaxy S5’s camera. Already, we’ve seen rumors suggest that the device could have a 16MP sensor, up from the 13MP sensor on board the Galaxy S4, and now, we have even more reason to believe that there will be a 16MP camera with ISOCELL technology on board the Samsung Galaxy S5.

Thanks to Samsung Analyst Day and G4Games, we know that Samsung is planning on putting a 16MP camera sensor with its ISOCELL technology inside of its devices in 2014. That essentially seals up an arrival inside of the Galaxy Note 4 and it means that an arrival inside the Galaxy S5 is likely.

As we’ve pointed out before, ISOCELL technology is going to help improve the photos and videos that users take, particularly in low-light environments, something that companies have all been working on for the past couple of years. Unfortunately, Samsung did not confirm Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), something that is already a point of contention.

Other Galaxy S5 rumors are more flimsy. We’ve heard that the Samsung Galaxy S5 could be coming with a faux leather design like the Samsung Galaxy S5 with a new Galaxy F coming with a metal design. This would be interesting given how long Samsung has taken to develop its Galaxy S series as its premium brand. Other rumors suggest a launch in January with a release in February though that remains unconfirmed.
