AT&T Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Update Rolling Out Now

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update roll out continues in the United States and this time, it’s the AT&T Galaxy S4 that is the proud recipient of Samsung’s latest and greatest Android software. The roll out, which was rumored to be out today, means that the T-Mobile Galaxy S4 is the last major device without Android 4.3.

Several weeks ago, a leaked chart suggested that the Verizon Galaxy S4 and Sprint Galaxy S4 would get Android 4.3 Jelly Bean in late October. They did. And today, that chart has once again proved accurate for Galaxy S4 owners as the AT&T Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 update deployment has begun, right on cue. The update, which XDA members say is rolling out right now, joins the Sprint, U.S. Cellular and Verizon Galaxy S4 models and now will come with the features that Samsung detailed just a few weeks ago.

The Galaxy Note 3 could feature an improved camera with a 13MP sensor like the Galaxy S4.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 update will not only come with many of the features found in Android 4.3 but it will also come with support for the company’s Galaxy Gear accessory, a smartwatch-like device that AT&T is currently selling for $299, and a device that figures to see a huge push during the holiday shopping season.

AT&T hasn’t announced anything yet but it’s clear that the update is rolling out. As we’ve noted in the past, these updates can often take a week or more to fully deploy which means that not every AT&T Galaxy S4 owner will see the Android 4.3 update roll out tonight. Instead, the software should roll out incrementally until it reaches every Galaxy S4 owner on Ma Bell.

While this is great news for AT&T owners, this also great news for T-Mobile Galaxy S4 users as it means that the update should roll out on November 18th, the date that appeared on the Android 4.3 schedule.

This update should be followed by Android 4.3 updates for the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2. However, from the looks of things, it’s possible that we could see some delays for those deployments. Already, we’ve seen Sprint’s Galaxy S3 update miss its rumored release date. Users who have received Android 4.3 on the Galaxy S3 in other parts of the world are currently experiencing a number of issues so it could be that Sprint and other carriers decided to take additional time to test the updates.

Samsung still hasn’t announced its Android 4.4 KitKat plans but the Galaxy S4 figures to get the update at some point in the future.

  1. at&t customer says

I talked to at&t customer service today and they said that the at&t Galaxy S3 should get the update by the end of the week (Sorry, I did not ask about the Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S4 Active, or Galaxy S4 Zoom). I kind of have doubts on that because Sprint skipped their November 6 update (at the time of making this comment) probably due to the international Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300) having so many issues. I hope this problem gets resolved soon because these carriers have to update these phones since they need to promote Galaxy Gear for the holidays.
