LG G Flex Tipped to Hit US Carriers Early Next Year

Published

The LG G Flex may be somewhat of a unique device for a niche market, but it’s quite interesting and surely set to shake up the market while competing with Samsung and its curved smartphone. We recently learned the device would start arriving for more markets this December, but for those in the US a release date is still a mystery.

Earlier this week we confirmed the LG G Flex would be coming to the states and be offered by at least AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint, but there was no details regarding a release date. This afternoon however more reports have surfaced with ETNews claiming the curved smartphone should be available very early next year. The Samsung Galaxy Round will never be for sale in the US, but those wanting to check out this next-gen technology may be able to thanks to LG.

According to the Korean news outlet LG is in the final rounds of negotiations regarding release date and details, and have already secured a release with the three carriers already mentioned above. With the holiday months approaching many were hoping to see it arrive in time, but it appears to be on track for an early 2014 arrival.

LG announced the curved phone back in October, and since has released a few neat videos highlighting many of the features on board. Including a scratch resistant and “self healing” rear design that’s expected to be extremely durable and heal within minutes if abused or scratched. Then of course the plastic AMOLED display can curve and bend. Meaning even if you sit on the smartphone you should never pull it out to find a broken and cracked screen.

As a reminder this device sports a large 5.9-inch 1080p HD flexible AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a 13 megapixel camera with optical image stabilization, and a large 3,500 mAh battery for all day usage. It’s a pretty stacked device with every cutting edge spec checked off the list, but we’ll have to wait until early next year to give it a try.
