Walmart Black Friday 2013 Guaranteed Deal Details and Gotchas

If you are looking at the Walmart Black Friday 2013 ad, no doubt the 21 guaranteed in stock items caught your eye, and for good reason. Most Black Friday deals are in quantities so small that only a few people get the deal, but at Walmart there are many items that Walmart promises you can buy in store for the first hour of Black Friday sales.

If these items sell out you can get a guarantee card with an access code to claim the deal online and get it delivered to your local Walmart before Christmas at the Black Friday deal price. While other stores will run out of big screen HDTVs, iPad mini Black Friday deals and other tech items, Walmart has shoppers covered.

But, just like with any deal there are a few gotchas to keep in mind. And if you don’t act fast after Black Friday you could miss out on the guaranteed deals, though you won’t lose your money.

Here’s how the Walmart Black Friday 2013 1 hour guarantee deals work, and the gotchas you need to know about before you line up later today.

Here’s a look at the guaranteed in stock tech deals from the Walmart Black Friday 2013 ad.

  • Funai 32-inch 720P HDTV – $98
  • Vizio 60-inch 1080P HDTV $688
  • iPad mini for $299 plus $100 gift card
  • LG Blu Ray Player – $38
  • Call of Duty:Ghosts – $39.96
  • GTA 5, Assassin’s Creed IV, NBA 2k14 & Batman – $34
  • HP TouchSmart 14-B109WM – $278
  • Beats by Dr. Dre Solo – $114.95

There are other tech deals as part of this, but they are not worth buying.

Must Claim Deals by December 1st

If Walmart sells out of the items above, and a few others, in the first hour they will sell a guarantee card for the Black Friday price. This card will allow you to place the order online for delivery to your Walmart store.

You must register for your deals fast.

You will get an Access Code on the receipt that allows you to go to Walmart.com/1hourguarantee to enter the code and complete the checkout. The code and your gift card should have the right amount of funds to cover the sale, unless you choose delivery to another area or add a protection plan.

You need to claim your deal by 11:59 PM CT on Sunday December 1st or you lose your claim to the Black Friday price.

You Can’t lose the Credit

Even if you don’t register your claim for the Walmart Black Friday 2013 deals you won’t lose any money. The gift card value remains even if you don’t register or decide you don’t want to buy the Black Friday item.

You can use this gift card to make a purchase in store or online if they don’t want to get the Black Friday item.

In Store Pickup Only

If your store runs out of the items during the Black Friday sales you will need to order for in store pickup. You can choose the store, but you cannot order for delivery at home.

You can also set an alternate pickup person if that simplifies the process, but no matter what you will be going to the store. The only delivery time-frame is before Christmas. Walmart will send you an email when it ships.

You May not Get the Exact Item

A guarantee is not a promise that you will get the exact item that was advertised in store. While Walmart will make good faith efforts to get the exact item that was in the Walmart Black Friday ad, things may not work out just right.

Here’s what Walmart has to say about this scenario,

“We’re sorry that we ran out of the original item however, in most cases, we will provide you with a comparable substitution item for the same price. If you do not want the substitute item, you can return your 1-Hour In Stock Guarantee Card with the original receipt to the Customer Service desk in your store for a refund, or you can use the 1-Hour In Stock Guarantee Card on purchases in any retail format of Walmart Stores, Inc. in the U.S. or Puerto Rico. You will be refunded an amount equal to the balance remaining on your card.”

Hopefully this won’t be an issue, especially for the tech items like the iPad mini which doesn’t have a comparable substitute in the same price range.

    Yes, definitely bait and switch…. Lots of stock for plastic cases. They run you around the store, treat you like an idiot, and won’t sell you a floor model. Forget walmart.com…Walmart does not honor their prices either. Too much fine print and quibbling. I saw a lot of folks walking out empty handed. Looks like the big mistake was to walk in.

    Just got back from the Wal Mart Store on Airport Freeway in Fort Worth Texas. I was in line starting at 5:15 pm for the 32 inch TV for $98.00 Went through the lines, and more lines. Just when at 6:30 pm, we were about to the end of the line, when a Police Officer from Fort Worth, told us to leave. “There were no TV’s and no more Vouchers being given out today.” WHAT!*!* there is 30 more minutes left in the 1 hour price guarantee. I did find shift Manager Leroy Nunn, he took my name and information, only after I mentioned it was sounding like “Consumer Fraud” and I wanted my vouchers. Let’s see what happens, I live nearby and shop there frequently. I will be looking up Leroy soon.

      UPDATE Airport Freeway Wal Mart store Makes GOOD.
      Leroy called me around 9:30PM this evening and offered a replacement TV for the same price. WOW I was impressed. Samsung 32 inch LED Went right to the store and picked them up. Leroy is my NEW Hero. TV’s look and sound great, up and running! WAY TO GO. Leroy Nunn made all of the difference in my Black Friday Early Wal Mart Event. THANK YOU!

      That is exactly happened to me I’d tried and tried and finally decided to drive back to Walmart and the ladies there told me it was an error from the first transaction and they redid another transaction and gave me a new receipt with the new access code and it works!

      It’s not false advertising. It’s no ones fault but your own you did not read the rules of the 1 hour guarantee. Do you really think the geniuses at Walmart HQ sat down and said “ok we think we will sell “x” amount of TV’s's per hour, that’s how many we should send.”? They had a good idea. Take it for what its worth. If you went to another store you wouldn’t have gotten anything because they as well only get a limited supply. As for the website not working, I personally do not know as it worked for me, still is a pain, but a little amount of work or a phone call to get a smoking deal on an item doesn’t seem too completely absurd to me but that’s just my opinion.

    Went to buy a Nabi 2, said it started at 8. Got there at 720 and was told they were sold out, I was like they weren’t suppose to start u til 8 they said u have to come 2 hours early to get a wristband ? Had no idea soo pissed , doesn’t say anywhere about getting a wristband

    Ok went to Walmart and of course they messed up again. We went in to get the beats solo headset. They were all sold out by 8:30 sooo we got a 1hour guarantee card paid for it and went home to register on line so that when they come in they will call us. Well guess what can’t register. it gives you the area to put in your access code and it will not let you do it. what joke this is why I hate shopping at walmart.

      Wal mart in Olive Branch Ms never offer us an acces code. They said they gave out all the wrist band before 4 pm.. In order to get a TV you had to have a wrist band. Band customer service all the way around.

    It seems like Obamacare could not get the website and when you do get it starts to act up and does not allow you to complete the registration so you could get the TV at the store near you. What are you guys doing. You are a PINHEAD ENTITY THAT COULD NOT HANDLE THE INTERNET TRAFFIC PROFESSIONALLY. You all have more money than the USA govt use it to perform the website properly.     It makes sense now that Walmart put my 1 hour guarantee purchase on a gift card. They have no intention of selling me a 32″ tv for $98, they basically sold me a gift card. Got home at 6:30 eastern time with voucher, put my access code in website, been waiting for over 3 hours for process to complete.

    I finally was able to enter the access code but the site got stuck on computing the state tax on the $299 price . It was stuck for over an hour in this mode and I finally logged out. Now I cannot even get into the site. I need to register by Dec 1? Hope they make extra time allowance for the inoperable site.

    The whole black friday is mess and Walmart is the biggest idiot of the bunch. Waited forever in line and was the 3rd person. I didn’t get my item because several people bum rushed the front of the line once it “opened” up for sale. The walmart associate started screaming at them but somehow her fat ass only kept me from getting anything but line cutters did. How is that fair, nobody to cry to and I blame myself for being another sheep standing waiting for a a handout.

    went wally world to get 2 40″ tv got there at 6:20 for the 8:pm sale was informed that wrist band were given out at 6:00 pm all tvs were gone,no 1 hr. guarantee or anything.well mr.wally world you can kiss where the sun don’t shine,it will be the last time i waste my time on one of your hooke sales,you are border line illeagle

    What a joke with this one hour gauntee thing. I kept asking sales associates everyone told me a different spot finally got to the right spot at 700 to be told sorry the gauntee sale was over. The kicker was the associate was standing there with them in her hand. So up setting.

    I am sorry to hear all the problems everyone is having. I live in fort bragg nc and our walmart did a great job. I got the 1 hour guarantee card our store had 115 of the 32″ tv’s and they cut the line at the point and started handing out the cards. I did have a hard time placing the order on line but I used the link that CW posted and my order went right thru. So if you have that card I would use the link above

    I arrived at my local Walmart store at 4:50pm to find a line wrapped around the toy section for the 32″ tv for $98, stood in line until 6:35 (that’s when it finally started moving) well, made it to the Walmart Associates (at 6:40pm) to find out that the last voucher would be handed out to the customer in front of me. I asked the associates “What happened to the 1-hour gurantee?” Their comments, “We ran out of vouchers! There are no more to give out.” I looked at my phone and stated that it was on 6:40pm, we still had 20 mins until it hit the 1-hour mark, each associate at that location (4 of them by the way) shrugged their shoulder. I explained to the irrate customers behind me to complain to corporate because the workers are just doing their job. THIS LIE IS BIGGER THAN THE SALE ASSOCIATES. I believe that we should stand in line to make Walmart hear us, there is no were on their website stating WHILE VOUCHERS LAST…it stated that it was a gurantee. Everyone please contact corporate to inform them of your experience. By the way for everyone that received their voucher or product, Congrats and Enjoy.

      Our walmart took my mom’s cart so she could not carry the TV (she is 80 yrs old) so they gave her a voucher she still does not have a tv when we emailed them they said they didn’t have anymore then next email they said she should get it by the 24th Dec.

    Everyone needs to take there receipts to walmart and get a full refund! On the way out wipe your feet on the way out. Here in portales new mexico’ walmarts black friday went so wrong. The advertisement was false! Saying: one item per customer.. Hell no wonder they sold out of the 32 inch t.v. 30 minutes before it was suppose to start as the head of the line swarmed grabbing not one! But 5 t.v’s. then offer a ” gift card ” because they sold out! Walmart has no control over responsability. ( limit one per customer) . Lie!

    I live in N Las Vegas .I went to the 215 and decature walmart.I was so please to find the 32 inch in stock at 10 o clock .they had 22 left.I stand in a very short line and picked up 3 of them .and got a ps3 this walmart experience was the best by far.short lines and a nice cashier. They whole staff was Great.

    I had the same problem. More than likely it was a cashier error, like it was in my case. I went to Customer Service and they needed to Void the transaction and then enter a new one. It was a whole mess but at the end they honred the price.
    The final catch was once I was over the Access Code issue, at checkout it was asking me to pay for the full price. Well, after reading the FAQs, the “1-Hour InStock Guarantee” heavy paper they gave HAS the gift card code (who knew).
    The only thing that dissapointed me was the the Inssurance Plan for the iPad Mini was $8.28 more on-line than it was at the register. No big deal, but I wish they have kept consistent prices (Unless price vary between black and white color iPad)
    Quite an experience with this Black Friday Campaign. After spending over 2 hours figuring out how this thing works, not sure if I will do it again next year

    listen this is all a scam for us to stay up all night trying to reg and the site is down and the phone number hangs up on you …what is hell has happened to Wal Mart…Sam is turning over in his grave for what you people are doing to us..not right nothing is in working order not eve corp number they gave me a med clinic for that phone number..no way can we get that 100 gift card they want the time to run out so this would happen to us and no one to help us register our items..2013 at Wal Mart sure does suck

    walmart lied, i got the voucher card for both the ipad and the $98 tv, pad for the ipad first and got a gift card( I thought it was the $100 gift card that was suppose to come with purchase of ipad) it was for the actual amount I paid for ipad($316.94), so I used the gift card to pay for tv and then I got another gift card which was confusing. Went to customer service and they had no clue why I was given 2 gift cards they told me to go home and follow instructions on guarantee card, logged in and registered with no problem but imagine my shock when I found out the gift card wasn’t actually the $100 gift card they advertised with purchase of ipad it was for the actual price of ipad so i had to pay the difference from my credit card and they said the $100 gift card would be emailed to me when my order is shipped. Why wasnt this explained earlier? Nowhere in the ad did it say anything about getting gift card later,I even went to walmart the day before just to confirm if I could use the gift card the same day if I purchased the ipad and they told me yes. I ended up spending $400 when i should have spent $300( I found out that if you actually got the ipad and not the guarantee card you got the $100 card when you check out, so if you got the guarantee card you get the $100 gift card later).

    WTF!!!! Ive entered my ACCESS code, many many times and it keeps telling me I have the wrong code!!! Im getting the # from my receipt!!! I tried calling 1-877-745-0190, a recording tells me they are experiencing heavy call volume, then a busy signal!!! This is the worst!!! I will never shop at Walmart again!!!!

    I will never shop at wall mart either..this was a rotten trick to put on us at this time of year…I am so mad I could chew a nail in 2..scams…that’s all it was…just to get us to the store and buy our stuff and then put this nightmare apon us all..nasty thing to do..never…you can keep your stuff I will be shopping at Target from now on…

    I am having the same issue as many of you. I have done the phone thing and waited for the site traffic to slow, so I could get to the access code page only to enter it over and over and over again until I couldn’t stand it anymore. I then sent an email to [email protected] with 1 HOUR IN STOCK GUARANTEE as my subject explaining my situation around 9:30 am and I received a reply at 3:49 pm. I was told that if my access code was not working I had to return to the store I purchased it at and they will issue me a new access code and 1 HOUR IN STOCK GUARANTEE card in exchange for the one that isn’t working.

    So, off I go to see if that works…I’ll let you know…

      Ok…SUCCESS….took my email from Walmart resolution saying I could take my receipt and 1 Hour Guarantee card back to the store. I waited in line at customer service who asked how long ago I received the email. I said late yesterday…the girl said they changed the rules since then…now I’m to keep trying the access code and try until tomorrow and if it doesn’t work by then to call the store and they’ll take my name and number and the manager will be calling everyone back with a solution…what could I do? I had to pick up a few things and just so happened to run into Chris the store manager of store 5030 in the dairy section stocking up on some 75 cent 2 liters with his significant other…he remembered us from the night of thanksgiving and asked if everything went ok??? I showed him the email and he wanted to know who told me what I had told him…he said the rules didn’t change and to wait right there he would take care of this. Next thing I heard was him on the intercom summoning all management to the jewelry counter….he then brought me my paperwork back and said to see Emily and she would take care of it….I went back and waited in line again and got up to a person that wasn’t Emily…when I said I was supposed to see Emily she yelled for her. Emily had instructions printed from corporate and within a few moments a new code was scribbled out for me….they can even issue a new code over the phone by giving your old one…optimistic I went to the car and entered the new code on my smart phone and instantly got through….my 32″ HDTV is expected to be available for site to store pickup between 12/12 and 12/22! Received my confirmation email. Wow…..finally resolved….was my labor spanning 3 days worth all this lol

        Did you check the status of that order lately? I hope, it is not canceled like mine.
        My Issue is here:
        The Ipad Mini Walmart put on sale (Price: $299+$100 gift card) on the day of Black Friday 2013 had “One Hour Guarantee”. That means in that one hour guarantee period, whoever got the ticket of that item and paid for that item must have the item too. They cannot say the item is out of stock, and especially, they cannot say the item is out of stock when they already get paid for the item 17-18 days ago. And now they sent me an email showing they canceled my order saying the item is out of stock. When I paid for the item on Black Friday night(17-18 days ago), the item wasn’t out of stock. On Black Friday, I stayed awake the whole night and got the ticket including excess code and paid for my iPad Mini, and registered my excess code and purchase online, and in few hours I already received the confirmation email from Walmart, which showed my order will be ready between 12/14/13 and 12/22/13 at my local Walmart store. And now on the 12/13/13, I received an email showed that Walmart issued $328.16 to gift card and canceled my order. I didn’t stay awake the whole night on Black Friday to buy just Walmart gift card. If I want to buy just Walmart gift card, I can go to the store anytime and buy it. I didn’t make any mistake, I didn’t complain that Walmart’s site didn’t let me register the excess code in certain time limit like others did, then why should I suffer?

        I already bought the case cover for this ipad mini in first week of December, and emotionally attached to this item, and have been waiting for since I paid for my item(17-18 days ago). If Walmart wasn’t sure whether that item would be “in stock or out of stock”, the Walmart wasn’t supposed to advertise “One Hour In-stock Guarantee” on the sale paper, and make customers paid for the item at the store right away. Now they don’t want to refund the money either saying their system won’t let them refund the money, so they issued gift cards in the name of refund the money.

        It is really immoral and shameful if they cancel the order just like this, especially big store like Walmart saying the item is out of stock after these 18 days.

    This is a lot of bull. I have been unable to register on talk to someone on the phone, Had to go back to Walmart for another acces code still unable to get thru. Very upsetting.

    OMG – have never had such problems trying to register the 1hour guarantee process. Started three flipping hours ago….and have just now gotten it to go through. I have made myself a promise to never, never, never….purchase one of these deals from Walmart….ever again!!

    If they gave you a plastic gift card with it check the balance!!! They ended up putting the amount needed for my item on the plastic gift card instead of the paper that I received. You are not suppose to receive the $100 one until after you have placed the order and it has shipped.

    every site i go to is not working, suppose i’ll be here all night trying to “register” this purchace, so here and now, not to miss MY DEADLINE i am posting the problem on this website to bring to the store with me after i rip their heads off, and make formal complaints to the state attorney general and the news stations…..yo-why should we even have to register by dec 1 don’t you know how many you sold with these tickets?

    Walmart is nothing but a big scam artist!!! I got the 1 hr guarantee card for the beats by dre. When I went to order it online it said it was out of stock but we are offering you a comparable item for the same price. So looked up the item only to find out its a cheaper item. When I went to order it i wasn’t even given the option to choose a certain color. I feel like Walmart owes me the difference. And I will be at my local Walmart tomorrow to discuss this with the store manager!!!! I am furious at how they are conning people!!!!!

    Target advertised a Samsung UN55FH6030 3D capable 55″ TV and instead sold the UN55FH6003 in stores which I discovered upon opening the box at home — which is not 3D capable. Upon confronting my local store, Target.com, and Target Corporate they admit what was sold does not match the ad. They have so far refused to sell me the TV that was advertised at the advertised price claiming all sorts of problems including their “computer system won’t allow it.”

    I did the guarantee card for the 32 inch tv and what a laugh, it has been “In transit to store” for 3 days now, the delivery center is in seymour indiana and the store is in Marion indiana. that is one slow truck, 3 days for what is prob 100 or 150 miles

      I got the 32″ TV, or should I say I paid for it. It has been saying “processing” and pickup between 12/14/13 and 12/20/13. Today I see it now says “shipped” and pick up between 12/20/13 and 12/27/13. What happened to guarantee pickup before Christmas? If it doesn’t make it until after Christmas, what kind of compensation will I get? If they don’t get penalized for breaking their guarantee and they don’t keep their promise then it isn’t really a guarantee.

    Same thing here for me. I just got an email saying it was shipped and expected to arrive by the 27th. My husband who registered the same item at the same time still shows processing! So I guess anyone who hasnt got the shipped email can expect delivery after Christmas too! I will never go to Walmart’s Black Friday again. Im just glad my kids are to old and Santa isnt involved in this gift.

      Mine still says “shipped”, my husband’s has changed though. HIS still says processing BUT the item is no longer the Beats Solo but now the Beats Mixr. These may be more expensive BUT on Wal-Marts website these are out of stock and now the Beats Solo is back in stock. So I wonder where this leaves me?!?

    The Ipad Mini Walmart put on sale (Price: $299+$100 gift card) on the day of Black Friday 2013 had “One Hour Guarantee”. That means in that one hour guarantee period, whoever got the ticket of that item and paid for that item must have the item too. They cannot say the item is out of stock, and especially, they cannot say the item is out of stock when they already get paid for the item 17-18 days ago. And now they sent me an email showing they canceled my order saying the item is out of stock. When I paid for the item on Black Friday night(17-18 days ago), the item wasn’t out of stock. On Black Friday, I stayed awake the whole night and got the ticket including excess code and paid for my iPad Mini, and registered my excess code and purchase online, and in few hours I already received the confirmation email from Walmart, which showed my order will be ready between 12/14/13 and 12/22/13 at my local Walmart store. And now on the 12/13/13, I received an email showed that Walmart issued $328.16 to gift card and canceled my order. I didn’t stay awake the whole night on Black Friday to buy just Walmart gift card. If I want to buy just Walmart gift card, I can go to the store anytime and buy it. I didn’t make any mistake, I didn’t complain that Walmart’s site didn’t let me register the excess code in certain time limit like others did, then why should I suffer?

    I already bought the case cover for this ipad mini in first week of December, and emotionally attached to this item, and have been waiting for since I paid for my item(17-18 days ago).       Mahendra – since this is not a discontinued item and they will eventually have these back in stock, if it were me, I would call them and tell them to reinstate the order and that you will wait for it even if it is after Christmas just so you can get it at that price. I understand Wal-Mart probably did it since there are no comparable items to substitute it with and that is why they just cancelled it. (See my update on MY item.)

      I was given an expected arrival date of the 27th but just got notice that one of my headphones is ready to bbe picked up and the other is just a few hours away and should expect it day after tomorrow! So there is still hope (unless your item was cancelled which I feel awful for you). I HOPE EVERYONE GETS THEIR ITEM BY CHRISTMAS AND THE OTHERS ARE ABLE TO FIND SOMETHING EVEN BETTER!!!

    Ok, Are there any attorneys taking this case. Walmart has had all of our money for a month and we still dont have the products.

    This is the note we just received. They ran out of the original t.v by the 7th person in line. They they offered a substandard and now ran out of that and are now offering a no name brand. It was suppose to be equal or better. This is not equal but if we don’t like it, we have to wait for the substandard TV to be delivered and then we have to haul it back to walmart, wait in line and get our money back. This is such a scam and SHOULD BE ILLEGAL.

    Walmart is committing consumer FRAUD by saying they guarantee the items by christmas and then CANCELLING the order since they are not able to fulfill. Why are they allowed to do this? They need to compensate people for their time standing in line, frustration over having to now go search for this item (which is in stock at my local store) and buy it at a higher price. My sister just received her cancellation letter. What recourse is available?

    I am in the same boat as the rest of you , I still have not received my 32 inch TV. I am now being told It will be after Christmas before I get it. Wal-mart really should get a dictionary and look up the word guarantee.. Hey WALMART THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.!

    When I originally put the vocher in it said I would receive a Emerson by the 23 zzz then checked my account yesterday and it said 1/1-1/7 and switched to a vizio I was upset but it is a better tv than Fuji ..then I received a email and text message my tv was in to be picked up and it’s a vizio ..I know I am pleased,yes it was confusing but it all worked out and I am gong to have a better tv for 98..I am not complaining things turn out ..lots of people were out and buying on Black Friday event ..my store was pretty organized and I wasn’t even there for the 98 tv a nice lady and one she didn’t need and gave it to me..I had no problems paying and entering in the vocher ..it was a very smooth process but I do see how it can be confusing not everyone has knowledge in this computer walmart needs to be sensitive in offering items like this ..but for me a great experience…..
