By  |  0 Comments

Google is getting into the holiday spirit this year in more ways than one. In fact, they’ve been adding features to many of its services all month long to help users enjoy the holiday and Christmas season even more.

Last week they turned our smartphones into a snow globe, letting users shake their smartphones to see snow on any photos uploaded to Google+, and today Google is helping us with Christmas carols, since we all love singing in the cold in front of some strangers house. Another Google Easter egg has arrived, one which helps users on mobile sing Christmas carols with the help of Google Search.

Go ahead and try it yourself. On your Android or iOS smartphone and tablet go ahead and Google “Let’s Go Caroling” and Google Search will instantly return Christmas carols songs. Not only that, but you’ll get a list to choose from, then Google will keep the beat and help us terrible singers stay on track. Letting you follow along to Jingle Bells, Deck the Halls, and more.

Google+ has recently added tons of features to the Auto Awesome photo effects. Essentially Google is turning every photo uploaded to its social network that has Christmas lights into an animated GIF, making your lights sparkle automatically. It’s a neat little effect, and apparently that was just the start. We now have smartphone snow globes, and our mobile devices will even help us sing Christmas carols now.

We can confirm asking Google Search on Android or iOS to “Let’s Go Caroling” will indeed give the result you see above. Offering the user five different songs to choose from. Then a big play button to start the music, restart, and even go back to choose another song. It’s a neat little trick with a bouncing karaoke ball and all. So go ahead, give it a try and get into the holiday spirit with the help of Google.
