The Chromebook is gaining steam as an excellent replacement for that expensive desktop PC or Macbook Pro laptop, and with good reason. After being one of the best-selling devices this past holiday season, today we have a new one worth talking about.
Google’s Chromebook’s are fast, efficient, and most importantly cheap. With most coming in around the sub $300 mark that’s so important these days. What’s even better though, is a Chromebook with built-in 4G LTE from Verizon Wireless. Today the popular HP Chromebook 11 has appeared at Best Buy with 4G LTE included all for just $379, even if no party has announced the new device.
Offering built-in 4G LTE is nothing new to laptops or Chromebooks, but this is the first truly low-cost option in this sector. Google’s own Chromebook Pixel had LTE support, but it was $1400 and is no longer for sale, making this HP Chromebook 11 your best bet, all while keeping that wallet happy.
HP’s Chromebook 11 launched back in October, but today we’re seeing multiple reports that the 4G LTE option is now exclusively available (or will be within the next few days) at Best Buy for only $379. It features an 11.6-inch IPS HD display, an Exynos 5250 Processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. Then offers up to 6 hours of battery life. It’s available right now to purchase for $279 from Google Play and a number of retailers for the WiFi only model, and $379 with LTE.
The maker of the 4G LTE chip inside (like many of our smartphones) is made by a company named Altair Semiconductor, who released a statement today confirming the new device is about to hit Best Buy shelves. We’re seeing it available online for some stores, but not many.
This means all those Share Everything mobile family plans at Verizon will be able to take advantage of this. Simply add a data line and toss in the SIM card for a full internet connection, or even swap your Verizon LTE SIM from that tablet or iPad to your HP Chromebook 11 whenever you need internet on the go.
