AT&T HTC One X+ Android 4.2.2 Arrives as Last Major Update

The past few days haven’t been filled with good news for HTC One X and X+ users, with HTC confirming the devices will stay on Android 4.2 and will no longer receive updates to the latest version of Android.

However, this afternoon we do have some good news as HTC and AT&T have finally delivered the last and final update to the HTC One X+. Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is arriving this week with plenty of fixes and security patches, as well as the last change to the interface with Sense UI 5.0 on board as well.

Last week we learned the update to Android 4.4.2 and Sense UI 5.0 was still coming, within the next few weeks, and today is the day. Users of the One X+ will be happy to know that AT&T and HTC have both confirmed it’s on the way, and should be hitting devices as we speak.

Then, according to multiple reports on the XDA Developers forum have also confirmed the update is rolling out today, with multiple users getting it this afternoon. HTC states the One X+ is getting it first, and we can expect the original HTC One X to receive a similar update in the coming weeks.

Above is the changelog from HTC which confirms some of the most popular features from the HTC One will be included. Blinkfeed is a big one, but Zoe and a few of the camera features will be missing sadly. The One X+ lacks the hardware for camera enhancements, but almost everything else from the flagship HTC One will be included for the One X and X+.

This update should bring an entirely new look and feel to the HTC One X and X+ and hopefully HTC will continue to offer support for security and bug fixes, but they’ll no longer be updating it with future versions of Android.

Users can head into settings > about phone > and check for some software updates, and we’ll confirm the moment the regular One X gets the same treatment.
