Apple is reportedly working on an iWatch that will use multiple sensors to connect with an iPhone running iOS 8 and a “Healthbook” app to track not only fitness but also many aspects of a user’s health.

A new iWatch concept shows what a wearable device could look like that shows information from the iPhone on a watch and a host of health tracking that reports suggest will appear in iOS 8 later this year.

The iWatch concept comes from FuseChicken, who previously shared an iPhone 6 concept last year. The iWatch concept is part of a marketing effort for a new iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s dock that can attach to a mounting plate in the car, to metal objects and more.

The short iWatch Concept video below shows what an iWatch might do complete with access to messages and notifications as well as a health and fitness component.

It’s not clear how soon Apple will release an iWatch, but reports for the last several months indicate Apple is working to make health a key component of the wearable device. In 2013 Tim Cook spoke at the All Things D11 conference where he declared that wearable technology is “profoundly interesting,” but shared the biggest hurdle that companies face with this technology, saying, “you have to convince people it’s so incredible you want to wear it.”

Last month a report from 9to5Mac shared a collection of iWatch and iOS 8 details including a variety of possible stats that the iWatch may be able to track and show to the user in a “Healthbook” app on the iPhone.

The list, like this iWatch concept includes typical fitness related items as well as the potential for blood pressure, hydration levels, heart rate and maybe even glucose tracking. If affordably priced and paired with the ability to show notifications from iOS 8 on a wrist, this iWatch could fit Cook’s bar of “incredible.”

This iWatch concept comes with a list of possible features and specs that could make these rumors possible, as well as explain the look of the iWatch concept and some other iPhone style features.

  • Built-in Compass, GPS, Bluetooth LE, Wifi
  • Charging: Kinetic, Solar, and Wireless charging ensure you never need to plugin your iWatch
  • Flex Glass: bendable and unbreakable
  • Bluetooth AutoUnlock for iPhone
  • Notifications: Calls, iMessages, Calendar
  • Siri Voice Dial
  • iPhone remote shutter
  • Music Playback Controls
  • Wireless Sync with iPhone

It’s not clear if all of these features such as kinetic and solar charging or a unbreakable flexible glass could make it into a real iWatch, but many of the other features match up with what consumers would expect to do on an iWatch.

The iWatch concept uses a strong, flexible glass, but a real iWatch may use Sapphire.

The key iWatch features as described in this concept are listed below, and rely on Healthbook to track the data on an iPhone.

  • Health: Healthbook with Oxygen, Heartrate, and Glucose sensors, Calorie counter, Sleep monitor
  • Fitness: Tracking for Running, Swimming, Golfing, Pedometer, Cycling, Stop Watch

The iOS 8 concept above from Carlos Quijano shows what Healthbook might look like on an iPhone when the iOS 8 release arrives. The iWatch would likely include many of the sensors needed to track all of this data, and constant contact with the user would make it more feaseable than a sensor laden iPhone 6 and would allow Apple to offer the Healthbook features to more users and sell more iWatch devices.
