A slew of upcoming Samsung Galaxy Android 4.4 KitKat updates including Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat updates have been confirmed thanks to a regional arm of Samsung and a carrier in the United Kingdom who claims that both updates are currently in testing.
Earlier this week, Samsung confirmed a great number of Samsung Galaxy Android 4.4 KitKat updates though those were for devices in the United States. The list includes the Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3, and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.
We now have confirmation for another region of the world thanks to Samsung Poland and Polish blogger Robert Nawrowski who have confirmed a number of Galaxy Android 4.4 KitKat updates for the Polish region. And while these updates are for Poland, they should shed some light on what other users in Europe can expect from Samsung in the future as far as Android 4.4 KitKat is concerned.
Samsung Poland confirmed Android 4.4 KitKat for these devices:
- Galaxy Note 3
- Galaxy Note 2
- Galaxy S4
- Galaxy S4 Active
- Galaxy S4 Mini
- Galaxy S4 Zoom
- Galaxy Mega 6.3
- Galaxy Mega 5.8
- Galaxy Grand
- Galaxy Express 2
- Galaxy Note 8.0
- Galaxy Note 10.1
- Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition
- Galaxy Tab 3 7.0
- Galaxy Tab 3 8.0
- Galaxy Tab 3 10.1
These are similar to the Galaxy Android 4.4 KitKat updates that were confirmed for the United States except for one notable omission. The Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update is missing and it appears that Samsung Poland does not have plans to push the update out. Nawrowski says that the decision was made based on the amount of RAM on board. The Polish version of the Galaxy S3 only features 1GB of RAM.
Keep in mind, plans can change and that this is only limited to Poland for the moment. However, it does look like some Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat updates could be in jeopardy.
As for the rest of these Android 4.4 KitKat updates, it’s not clear when they will roll out. Release dates were not provided though users should expect devices like the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 to receive their upgrade first. The Galaxy Note 3 already reached Poland though it’s not clear if every single carrier has rolled out the update.
ThreeUK, a carrier in the United Kingdom, claims that both the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat updates are in testing. The carrier did not provide any update on timing but this is a great sign not only for those on ThreeUK itself but for those touting the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 in the whole UK.
Android 4.4 KitKat is an incremental upgrade for the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 and should be for Samsung’s other devices as well. While the Galaxy S5 is expected to land soon with new software, it’s not clear if Samsung will tack on any of its features to any of these upcoming Android 4.4 KitKat upgrades.
