Amazon discounted some of its Kindle ereaders late last week, but now Staples has taken the baton and is offering the entry-level Kindle ereader for just $49. Furthermore, the office supply store is selling the Kindle Paperwhite for $99 and a plethora of Kindle Fire tablets for up to $30 off.
Of course, the discounted prices are with Special Offers intact, meaning that you’ll see advertisements here and there, but you certainly can’t beat the price. If you can handle the occasional ad, $49 is a fantastic price for a decent ereader, and it’s pretty much an instant buy considering you’re only paying that much dough for something that you’ll get a ton of use out of if you read a lot.
The same can be said for Amazon’s touchscreen tablets. Staples has the Kindle Fire HD 7″ starting at $119 for the 8GB version, and the Kindle Fire HDX 7″ starts at $199 for the 16GB flavor. Higher-capacity options are on sale as well, including the 32GB version of the Kindle Fire HDX 7″ for $239.
The Kindle Fire HDX is the newest addition to the Kindle lineup for Amazon, sporting faster internals and a higher-resolution display, as well as a revolutionary new customer support feature called MayDay, which allows you to get on the horn with an Amazon customer support rep through your Kindle Fire HDX tablet in case you’re having any troubles.
This isn’t the first time this year that Kindle ereaders and tablets have been on sale. In fact, just earlier this month, Amazon provided the same $20 discount on its ereaders, and it also discounted its ereaders and tablets several times last year in December and November for the holiday shopping season, where you could get the entry-level ereader for $49. The company has never been shy about discounting its own hardware.
You can usually take advantage of Kindle hardware sales throughout the year, so there’s almost no reason to not wait for a good deal on a Kindle ereader or Kindle Fire tablet.
