New iPhone 6 photos show mockups and case designs that are being shown off by manufacturers at booths during the Hong Kong Electronics Fair 2014.

As we inch deeper into 2014, iPhone 6 rumors have begun to emerge with great frequency. Every day, we hear about Apple’s plans for the next iPhone. Interestingly, many iPhone 6 rumors insist on a larger iPhone for the fall and today, we get another look at what may be coming to Apple Stores at some point in the future.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen a number of alleged iPhone 6 photos emerge out of Asia. The photos appear to depict a larger iPhone model, something that is consistent with iPhone 6 rumors that point to a device that features a high-resolution display in the vicinity of 4.5-inches and 4.7-inches.

Today, new photos have surfaced thanks to Macotakara and the Hong Kong Electronics Show. It appears that several companies are showcasing “iPhone 6” mockups and case designs. One of the booths is even sporting a large sign that tells consumers that the iPhone 6 is “coming soon” though no specific date is given.

More interesting than that are the iPhone 6 mockups that are on display. One booth showed off a physical iPhone 6 mockup that allegedly was used to make cases for Apple’s next iPhone model. It’s show next to a case for the supposed iPhone 6. The mockup appears to be larger than the iPhone 5s and it utilizes a different camera style, something that we’ve seen pop up in earlier iPhone 6 rumors.

These mockups appear similar to the mockups that Gotta Be Mobile exclusively showed off prior to the iPhone 5’s arrival. Those mockups depicted a taller iPhone 5 with a larger screen. The iPhone 5 was indeed taller than the iPhone 4s and featured a larger 4-inch display. The iPhone 4s used a 3.5-inch display like the other iPhone models before it. In other words, there is a chance that these depict the real larger iPhone 6 in the flesh.

The video below showcases the iPhone 6 mockups and cases made with the mockups in great detail.

iPhone 6 rumors almost exclusively point to an iPhone 6 with a larger display. Since last year, rumors have pointed to two iPhone models. One is said to be between 4.5-inches and 4.7-inches in size and sport HD resolution. The other is thought to be somewhere around 5.5-inches or 5.7-inches with HD resolution. The larger model, if real, would put the iPhone on par with the Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung’s large screen flagship smartphone.

A recent report from Reuters casts some doubt on the two-pronged attack. The report claims that Apple may have delayed the larger iPhone and that it will be the 4.5-inch to 4.7-inch iPhone that makes an appearance later this year.

These new iPhone 6 mockup photos arrive just hours after several other alleged iPhone 6 photos emerged from the shadows. New potential iPhone 6 photos appear to show a larger 4.7-inch display, a size that is consistent with iPhone 6 rumors. Another photo claims to show what may be the iPhone 6’s battery.

Apple is expected to utilize a sapphire display for the iPhone 6, something that will not only cost the company a ton of money, but make the device virtually impossible to break or scratch. The material would add an element of protection that is not currently found on any of the iPhones that Apple currently sells out of its stores.

iPhone 6 rumors aren’t just limited to the device’s display either. Analysts continue to suggest that the iPhone 6 could see a price hike. Peter Misek believes that there is a potential for a $100 price jump. Apple, for many years, has sold the base iPhone model at $199.99 on-contract. A $100 price jump would put it on par with the $299.99 Galaxy Note 3.

Maybe the biggest iPhone 6 leak of the month comes from Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, shared by MacRumors. Kuo accurately predicted many of the iPhone 5s features, and while he is not 100% on rumors, he is considered to be reliable. The mockups share features in common with Kuo’s predictions including the change in the position of the power button.

  • iPhone 6 Screen Size and Resolution – 4.7- inch (1334 x 750) 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080).
  • iPhone 6 Release Dates – 4.7-inch in September, 5.5-inch in Holiday season.
  • iPhone 6 Design – Power button on right, narrower bezels, larger iPhone 6 as two-hands needed.
  • iPhone 6 Camera – No major Megapixel bump, but added image stability.
  • iPhone 6 Specs – A8, 1GB RAM, Touch ID, 6.5mm to 7mm thickness, NFC.

Virtually every iPhone 6 rumor points to a release in the fall rather than in the summer. In fact, rumors are starting to point to two possible iPhone 6 releases this year. EMSOne, Reuters, Ming-Chi Kuo and Steve Milunovich from UBS all point to a delayed release for the larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6. It’s not clear how much of a gap there might be between the two.

The iPhone 6 release dates will be staggered according to a new report which points to the fall and holiday shopping season.

Rumors suggest that the iPhone 6 will come with iOS 8, the new operating system that is expected to debut alongside a new version of Mac OS X at this year’s WWDC in June. Apple confirmed that it will be showing off new OS X and iOS software though it hasn’t confirmed what the software will be.

iOS 8 is expected to look similar to iOS 7 but come with health-related features that may tie into the company’s rumored iWatch. The software might also come with upgrades to iTunes Radio, Siri, and more.
