With just two weeks left before LG takes the stage and formally announces the LG G3, the company is already busy teasing its smartphone in a brand new official video.
In what is essentially our first official look and confirmation of the LG G3, leaks aside, the company is teasing the brand new flagship smartphone well ahead of the announcement, and revealing some key features at the same time. We know almost everything about LG’s next already, but the video confirms it all.
This week LG released an official LG G3 teaser video giving us a first glance at their new smartphone. The short 35 second clip doesn’t reveal anything new, but gives potential buyers a look at the camera, display, speakers, rear facing buttons and much more. The release date is quickly approaching and the teasers and leaks will only continue to arrive. Read on to find out more from the video.
The LG G3 is aiming to be an impressive all around smartphone for 2014, one which can compete with anything else from the competition. Following on the successful design and approach the company took with the LG G2, the LG G3 will be quite the handset, and arrive in time for summer sales.
LG sped up the release by more than a few months in order to compete with Samsung, HTC and Apple, and the LG G3 will officially be announced live on stage on May 27th. We knew a device announcement was coming that day, but technically it hadn’t been confirmed to be the LG G3. This video confirms that’s exactly what we’ll see come May 27th, and should have prospective buyers excited.
That isn’t all either. While rumors have been swirling for months, not to mention we received a slew of leaked images yesterday, this is the first time we’re seeing it from an official source. So while we know nearly all the features that will be on board, this video confirms the suspicions.
Without further ado, here’s the video revealed late last night by LG Mobile themselves.
In the video we can see a few key aspects and features that will be some of the biggest selling points by LG, all which are now officially (in a way) confirmed ahead of the release date.
We knew the May 27th event would host some sort of LG “G” device, but that could be something else or the upcoming LG G Watch, so while most knew the LG G3 would be announced, today’s video confirms exactly that. As for the release date, last week LG confirmed the flagship smartphone will be available around the globe and throughout the US before the end of June. So it should be here within the next few weeks.
We’ve heard a few rumors suggesting a same-day launch on the 27th, similar to the HTC One M8, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet and we can expect further release details to surface next week.
Optical Image Stabilization
There’s a brief moment where we can clearly see the moving or floating camera swirling around, which confirms the same impressive Optical Image Stabilization technology from the LG G2 will be in the new LG G3. Although, rumors claim it’s an improved OIS+ technology from the G Pro 2 which will arrive again in the LG G3.
Rumors have the camera staying at 13 megapixels with a better sensor and improved OIS, but we could see a 16 megapixel on board to match the Galaxy S5. Only a few weeks left and we’ll know for sure.
There’s a quick glimpse of the all-new completely redesigned rear buttons on the LG G3. The company shocked the mobile world in 2013 by releasing the G2 with all the buttons on back, rather than the sides, but it proved to be a useful change that many users love. There’s plenty of LG G2 fans excited about the LG G3, and this quick video confirms the redesigned button layout.
There’s still no concrete details about the aluminum power button, but all reports point to it housing a fingerprint scanner for enhanced security and other features, similar to the Galaxy S5 and iPhone 5S. The button arrangement seems much improved from previous devices, and we’ll be sure to try it out ourselves in person come May 27th.
Brushed Metal Finish
Early rumors suggested the LG G3 would launch with an all aluminum design to battle the iPhone 6 and HTC One M8, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. Over the past month most leaks and details have the phone being almost all plastic, similar to the LG G2, and new images show an aluminum-like finish. Most likely the all-new LG G3 will be a plastic device with a faux aluminum design similar to the fake leather plastic housing on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
The LG G3 won’t be a fingerprint magnet with glossy cheap plastics and instead come in Gold, Black, and White featuring a brushed aluminum-like design to the rear casing.
The last major thing the video above reveals, or confirms, is the nearly bezel-free edge to edge display that will be featured on the new LG G3. Users will be excited about the 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad HD display, and the thin bezels ensure a larger screen without making the overall device physical size much bigger.
The quick glance in the video highlights the display, confirms the May 27th release date, and teases improved speakers and a few other things as well. We see a booming, Earth shaking speaker, glass shattering, and that impressive camera all right out of the gate.
As a refresher the LG G3 will be announced on May 27th, and released before the end of June. We’re hearing an early June release date across all five major US carriers, but won’t have to wait very long to find out. The LG G3 sports a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, quad-core processor 2/3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage with a micro-SD slot, 13 megapixel camera, stunning designs in black, white and gold with a brushed aluminum-like finish, and should have a large 3,200 mAh battery.
The leaks will likely continue each and every day until LG takes the stage on the 27th and officially confirms the device themselves. Expect more details to arrive in the coming days.
