G Watch Arrives in Time for LG G3 Release

Last month at the annual Google I/O developer conference Google finally unveiled its new operating system for wearable device like a smartwatch called Android Wear. They gave consumers an early glance back in March, and last week the first device running Android Wear, the LG G Watch, finally went on sale.

Google’s new mobile operating system for wearable devices is essentially Android just like the LG G3, Galaxy S5, or other devices, but has been fine-tuned for small screens like a smartwatch or other wearable technology. After announcing pre-orders at the end of June for the new LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live smartwatches, both are now available from the Google Play Store.

Today LG announced global availability for the all-new LG G Watch just in time for those in the United States to also pick up the brand new LG G3 flagship smartphone, which is set to finally be available from select carriers here in the US later this week. After months of rumors and speculation regarding what to expect, Google unveiled the new smartwatch to the world at the end of June. In a surprise move Google didn’t just announce and showcase the new gadget, but the G Watch and Gear Live both went on sale the same day. Albeit pre-orders with shipping dates in July.

The LG G Watch officially went on sale directly from the Google Play Store last week on July 3rd, and the Samsung Gear Live started shipping as well with the official launch date expected to be July 8th. However, we’re still a long ways from seeing the highly anticipated Moto 360 smartwatch hit store shelves.

This week LG confirmed the new G Watch is available around the globe both online, and from select partners and retailers. Retailers in the United States like Best Buy will carry the G Watch, as well as retailers from 15 other countries around the globe. Then online users can get the new Android Wear Watch in Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Australia and more. So basically a global launch both online and from partners.

Above, the all-new LG G3 flagship smartphone by LG is also available this month for consumers around the globe. The LG G3 debuted back in May but took roughly a month before it was released in the UK and certain parts of the world. However, those in the United States awaiting the highly anticipated smartphone have been left in the dark until just recently.

Coinciding with the global launch of the new LG G Watch, this week we finally learned what to expect regarding an LG G3 release for those in the United States. After over a month of waiting the LG G3 release date has been set for July 11th in the US first with AT&T, then the following weekend from other carriers.

AT&T will be the first US carrier to offer the LG G3 on July 11th, then a few days later and the following week T-Mobile launches its version of the smartphone on July 16th. Rumor has it Verizon will follow on July 17th, with the last LG G3 release date being Sprint on July 18th stateside.

The 5.5-inch LG G3 offers the highest resolution of any smartphone currently available in the United States, and the new LG G Watch aims to be a great companion device for users. Android Wear is essentially a second screen allowing users to interact with notifications, calls, texts, emails, navigation and more all right from the wrist.

The LG G3 is $199 with a new 2-year contract from carriers here in the United States, while the impressive looking LG G Watch is $229 from the Google Play Store, other online retailers, and on store shelves at Best Buy or AT&T.
