The Moto X, Motorola’s latest flagship smartphone, is officially available to customers in the United States who use U.S. Cellular.

U.S. Cellular announced details concerning the Moto X 2014 just moments ago, ending an almost month-long span in which it wasn’t clear if the company had plans to bring this year’s version of the highly customizable smartphone to its customers.

Starting today, U.S. Cellular customers can head into the carrier’s retail stores or go online to pick up the Moto X 2014 for $99.99 with a two-year contract. Of course, those who do decide to pick up the Moto X 2014 in a U.S. Cellular store are getting a pre-made version that won’t be as colorful as what they can get through the Moto Maker website.

Users who want a black leather or bamboo back will be able to buy those versions of the Moto X 2014 at U.S. Cellular stores for $149.99 later this October. Like the $99.99 in-store option, this will also include a two-year service agreement.

Potential Moto X 2014 buyers on U.S. Cellular don’t necessarily have to sign a two-year contract to get their hands on the device either. U.S. Cellular Equipment Installation plan buyers don’t have to pay anything except for sales tax on the device initially. After that a Moto X 2014 with 16GB of storage in black is $20 on top of their monthly bill. Buyers who purchase versions with natural finishes like leather and bamboo pay monthly installments of $21.67.

Announced in early September, the Moto X 2014 is an upgrade over last year’s Moto X in every way. It features a new quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor that’ll allow it to perform just as well as other Android flagship smartphones like the Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8. Additionally, the Moto X 2014 includes a spacious 5.2-inch AMOLED display and a 13 megapixel camera with flash inset around its edges for better low-light pictures. The U.S. Cellular Moto X 2014 joins a few other variants already available on store shelves.

On September 16th the AT&T Moto X 2014 arrived on the Moto Maker website. Last weekend Verizon Moto X 2014 ordering arrived on Moto Maker. With U.S. Cellular onboard and Motorola representatives confirming that the Moto X 2014 won’t be making its way to Sprint, that just leaves T-Mobile here in the United States.

We’ve heard nothing about whether T-Mobile plans to carry the Moto X 2014, but the Pure Edition Moto X comes with a T-Mobile SIM card and is compatible with the carrier’s network. If an actual T-Mobile Moto X 2014 doesn’t arrive that Pure Edition is a pretty capable replacement.

The Pure Edition Moto X 2014 costs $499 for 16GB of storage and a colored rear-shell. 32GB of storage costs Pure Edition buyers another $50. In addition to being available without a contract, the Pure Edition Moto X 2014 doesn’t include software locks and carrier apps that buyers can’t remove. Because it’s directly maintained by Motorola software updates like the upcoming Android L release should come to the Pure Edition Moto X 2014 before it arrives on the versions carriers are selling directly to users. Buying the Pure Edition isn’t cheap, but users can finance the purchase and make payments in installments directly to Motorola and its financing partner instead of having to deal with their carriers.

One interesting thing to note about the U.S. Cellular Moto x 2014 is upgrade eligibility. All the other carriers we’ve seen introduce a version of the Moto X 2014 include two-year service agreements or installation plans. U.S. Cellular’s installation plan allows users to pay off their device and upgrade to a new one in as little as a year. That’s key since some might find the Moto X 2014’s larger screen a bit of a headache after a while.
