Google officially announced and unveiled the Nexus 9, Nexus 6, Nexus Player and Android 5.0 Lollipop earlier this week, and starting today is your first chance to buy one of its latest products.

After months of rumors and speculation Google finally revealed all three products this week in a brief blog post, along with a slew of videos and new ads many users have already started seeing on TV, then they confirmed the Nexus 9 pre-orders will kick off today, October 17th.

Ahead of schedule Amazon opened up pre-orders last night, and they’re still available, but we’re not sure just how many orders they’ve received or if they’ll have enough stock to ship them all on release date. As a reminder, the Nexus 9 is set to officially be released on November 3rd. That being said, Google is now taking orders from its own Google Play Store.

Navigating to Google’s Play Store online will allow users to pre-order the new Nexus 9 right now, and hopefully be among one of the first to get this impressive new Android tablet the day it is released. It looks like pre-orders could also become available from Best Buy and Gamestop in the coming days, as they’ve both been recently added to the official Nexus 9 product page.

Users can grab the new 8.9-inch brushed aluminum finished Android 5.0 Lollipop powered Nexus 9 tablet starting at just $399 for the 16GB model, $479 for the 32GB variant, or $599 for the 32GB 4G LTE. The new Nexus 9 comes in three colors: Indigo Black, Lunar White or Sand. However we’ve heard the 4G LTE version, and the Sand color option won’t be arriving until sometime in November, and won’t be up for pre-order today.

It’s worth noting that Amazon has the Nexus 9 pre-order page open right now and has been accepting orders since yesterday evening, and they’re listing the device will ship on November 3rd. Google’s already confirmed the actual release date is November 3rd, so many were expecting shipping to start before the 3rd in order to receive the tablet on the same day.

We can’t be certain, but from what we’re seeing Amazon orders won’t start shipping until the 3rd, meaning overnight deliver on the 4th is the quickest you’ll be able to get Google’s latest tablet.

However, changes are Google Play pre-orders (link above) could ship earlier, not to mention Best Buy, Walmart, and many other brick and mortar stores should start receiving stock at the same time. In previous years Nexus devices have been in short supply, and sold out quickly from places like Best Buy, so we’d advise buyers to consider a pre-order rather than waiting.

As a quick recap, Google’s brand new Nexus 9 tablet has tons to offer and is quite possibly its best tablet yet, if not one of the best tablets of 2014. It fits nicely between the new iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3, has the latest cutting edge hardware and software, and even sports front facing speakers for stunning audio performance during games, music, or watching movies.

The Nexus 9 has an 8.9-inch 2048 x 1536 Quad-HD display (2k display) with a powerful 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor and 2GB of RAM, 16 or 32GB of storage, an improved 8 megapixel camera with flash and optical image stabilization, a brushed aluminum finish and soft touch matte back for an easy grip, and uses HTC Boomsound front facing speakers.

Google also announced they’ll have magnetic origami flip cover cases, and a magnetic bluetooth keyboard to make the Nexus 9 the ultimate machine for work, or play.

The Nexus 9 is the first device that will be sold with the new Android 5.0 Lollipop, and you can learn more about it right here.
