Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Lag Problems & Fixes

Published

on

An overwhelming number of complaints about Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare lag, leaves many gamers wondering where the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare dedicated servers are that Sledgehammer Games promised before the release.

We’ll talk about Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare lag, the lack of dedicated servers and networking issues — and show you how you can try to fix Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare problems.

Lag is a general term that describes the action on-screen and what is actually happening not matching up. Sometimes called Lag Compensation, this can result in jumping back and forth between a spot on the map after using the exo boost or when you shoot an opposing player’s on-screen character showing hits, but that’s not where the player actually is, leading to no actual hits or kills. You can see some examples in the video below.

There are no Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare dedicated servers, which means the performance of the game relies on the connectivity between consoles. When other players in the game don’t have a good connection trouble starts and the game attempts to keep everyone on the right page. Once this happens, players start to experience lag, leading to kills that don’t happen due to poor hit detection.

While you wait for Sledgehammer Games to come up with a solution, you can try some steps to fix Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare lag on your own.

Fix Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Lag

This fix will only do so much, and it won’t likely resolve all Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare lag problems. But at the least it will fix those coming from your home network, which may solve some of your problems. You’ll need to check your NAT type and you’ll probably need to forward some ports. This sounds scary if you’ve never done anything like this, but the video below explains the process.

If you are using a wireless connection, you should also try it with a wired connection. Many times wireless connectivity leads to problems with connectivity in games like this.

As the video describes, you’ll need to go to PortForward to forward specific ports to your Xbox One or PS4, and they also offer guides to set a Static IP address on your Xbox One or PS4 as well as guides on the Xbox 360 and PS3. You can even see specific steps for your router.

These steps may also help users who see Open NAT on the Xbox One or PS4, but a Moderate or Strict NAT in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

seeing that sledgehammer top brass said “yes there will be dedicated servers for advanced warfare” and there is to date NO DEDICATED SERVERS, can anyone say class action lawsuit to all who purchased Call of Duty advanced warfare? if he said it publicly and has not delivered then it is an open and shut case folks. calling my attorney now to get the ball rolling. maybe big rich game makers will start keeping their word instead of saying none truths just to sell ONE MORE game.
