Nexus 6 Release Continues on Google Play

Published

on

The new Android 5.0 Lollipop powered Nexus 6 has finally been released in the United States. The general release date has been somewhat of a mystery as Google’s allowing each major US carrier to release it at will. The launch started off rocky, but this week is off to a good start, maybe for Cyber Monday, as it’s back in stock on the Google Play Store.

The impressive Nexus 6 was announced back on October 15th along with the Nexus 9 tablet, a Nexus Player, and the completely redesigned and improved Android 5.0 Lollipop software update. After pre-orders started, Sprint released it first after a delay by T-Mobile, then AT&T, and now it’s available from even more sources.

As it stands right now the Nexus 6 is available from Sprint, AT&T, and even T-Mobile both in stores and online. If you didn’t snag any of the Motorola or Samsung deals for Black Friday or Cyber Monday, the Nexus 6 is available now for those interested.

The Nexus 6 release date and pre-order launch didn’t go as expected, or maybe it did. The initial pre-order date on October 29th lasted for about 2-3 minutes, and stock has been in and out of the Google Play Store for minutes at a time for over a month. To say the phone is hard to get would be an understatement.

That being said, Google’s released the Nexus 6 this morning on the Google Play Store and those who’ve been itching to get it at full price and unlocked vs going through a carrier, now is your chance. This is the first time we’ve seen the Nexus 6 in stock on the Play Store for more than a few minutes, as it’s been available for nearly an hour this afternoon.

Google’s offering the 32GB Midnight Blue Nexus 6 right now. The 64GB model and both variants in white are unavailable. For now it looks like only the blue model from carriers and Google is available.

As a reminder, this is an expensive smartphone. The 32GB version is $649 unlocked, and the 64GB model comes in at $699. It’s the most expensive Nexus smartphone to date, but also the biggest and best coming with top tier specs and a huge 5.96-inch display.

As we said above, the Nexus 6 is avialable as we speak from the Google Play Store, listed as shipping from the warehouse in 2-3 weeks. This is the longest stock has been available to order, so buyers better hurry. You can also expect it to be available today and Wednesday from Motorola.com.

Update: We’re now seeing the White 32GB Nexus 6 in and out of stock. If either color is listed as out of stock, hit refresh, as we’re getting reports of it coming and going for most.
