Microsoft Xbox One Deal Gets Shoppers a Free Game

It seems Microsoft is no longer content with letting everyone else discount or offer Xbox One deals. It has plans to offer shoppers at its website a free Xbox One game to go along with any Xbox One purchase, for one day only.

Starting tomorrow, Microsoft will offer shoppers of its Microsoft Store website and retail stores an Xbox One bundle that includes a full Xbox One game at no additional cost. It’ll start taking orders of the console on its website at 8AM Eastern Standard Time. Like all deals it’ll run while supplies last.

Unfortunately, exactly what games will be included in the deal remains a mystery. A picture related to the deal features copies of Destiny, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Grand Theft Auto V. It’s entirely possible – even likely – that Microsoft will let those taking advantage of this Xbox One deal choose whatever free game they want. There’s just no way to confirm that until the $349 deal goes live tomorrow.

We do know, that Microsoft Store shoppers who take advantage of this Xbox One deal aren’t getting a free game. Technically, they’re getting three free games. All year Microsoft has used console bundles to boost sales of the Xbox One. The Xbox One included in this deal isn’t the standard Xbox One that includes just a wireless controller and the necessary power cables. It’s the Assassin’s Creed Unity Xbox One bundle. That version of the Xbox One includes two free games already. One of the free games is last year’s Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. This year’s Assassin’s Creed Unity is also included. Assassin’s Creed Unity alone would cost $60 if it were purchased separately from this bundle. GameStop sells Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag right now for $49.99.

Microsoft announced the original Xbox One last year. That version of the console included no games at all. Inside the box was a Kinect 2 sensor for controlling televisions and motion gaming. It also included an HDMI cable, power cable and wireless controller and it cost $499. Microsoft spent the better part of this year responding to slow sales last holiday season.

Today, it’s impossible to find an Xbox One console that doesn’t include a free game. In addition to giving away games, Microsoft introduced a cheaper Xbox One bundle that doesn’t include a Kinect 2 sensor. Before the holidays that bundle cost $399. The Microsoft Store is offering $50 off the price of the normal price of the Assassin’s Creed Unity Xbox One bundle. That’s how those taking advantage of this Xbox One deal are getting the console for just $349.99.

The console featured in this deal doesn’t include a Kinect 2 sensor, but those who are interested in the entertainment and motion gaming features that the Xbox One has to offer can purchase a Kinect 2 sensor separately. A Kinect 2 sensor costs $150 and includes a copy of Dance Central Spotlight, a motion game that tracks how accurate your dance moves are.

Microsoft still offers its Xbox One + Kinect bundle for $449 for those who’d like everything they need in one package. The language on Microsoft’s 12 Days of Deals page indicates users will be purchase that bundle and also get a free game. Normally, the Xbox + Kinect bundle costs $499, but Microsoft is discounting it by $50 for the holidays too.

The Xbox One is just one of the products that made it into GottaBeMobile’s Holiday Gift Guide.

Shoppers planning to take advantage of Microsoft’s Xbox One deals should wake up as early as they possibly can. The company has made it pretty clear that everything its offering during its 12 Days of Deals promotion is on a while supplies last basis. Presumably, Microsoft will offer this Xbox One deal until it meets a quota. Then it’ll transition into less enticing deal.
