Earlier this year Google announced a few new Nexus products, and along with them debuted the brand new Android 5.0 Lollipop software updating. Delivering a new look and feel to the Android operating system. Today we have good news as the LG G3 Android 5.0 update is rolling out to more users, and a few new details have surfaced for curious owners.

A few months back LG confirmed the LG G3 Android 5.0 Lollipop update is a work in progress, and users can expect it to arrive before the end of the year. Then, earlier this week we saw the update officially arrive for most European LG G3 owners.

Earlier this year LG announced its brand new flagship G3 smartphone. Offering one of the better devices released in 2014 with top-tier specs, an impressive 5.5-inch Quad-HD display like the Nexus 6, and extremely small bezels making for a big screen but a small, pocketable and portable handset. And now, we have even more LG G3 Android 5.0 update information.

Over the past few weeks we’ve seen a few small software updates arrive for the LG G3, but sadly those weren’t Android 5.0 Lollipop. Carriers in the United States like AT&T and Sprint pushed some bug fixing updates, and likely changed a few things to prepare for the Android 5.0 update which is still slated to arrive sometime later this month.

Initial reports from LG promised the G3 would see Android 5.0 before the end of the year, and they’ve slowly delivered it for a few small regions. The LG G3 Android 5.0 update kicked off in Poland and South Korea last month, but today we’re learning details for other locations as well.

For starters, today Vodafone confirmed the LG G3 Android 5.0 update was in the testing phase, and that once completed it should continue others and push the update out as soon as possible for owners. The company also posted details regarding updates for an array of devices in the same weekly wrap up, but the G3 is the only phone prepping for Lollipop.

Then, French carrier SFR announced earlier this week (December 15th) that the LG G3 Android 5.0 Lollipop update had passed testing and would start rolling out the same day, and continue all week long. This marks the 5th region LG has begun updates too, all smaller markets than the US mind you, but this is certainly good news. SFR posted screenshots showing Android 5.0 on the G3, and you’ll clearly see the old on-screen navigation buttons vs the changes made by Google.

Everything we saw with the update from Google arrived in these updates. Those being a redesigned user interface, device encryption, smooth animations and effects, as well as performance improvements across the board. We’ve seen LG updates have some bad after effects, so we’ll keep an eye out for more details. Multiple sources have confirmed the SFR G3 has already got the update, so be sure and check for update on the device yourself if it has yet to arrive.

Thus far we’ve seen LG G3 Android 5.0 updates rollout for Austria, the Baltics, Belgium, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Spain and the UK. Making it one of the fastest devices to see Android 5.0 aside from Nexus smartphones and tablets, and a few smartphones from Motorola.

To add to the list our third set of new details comes from India, where we’ve confirmed the LG G3 Android 5.0 update has also started. Adding one more to the growing list, as those in the United States patiently await it’s arrival.

As for those in the United States, no new concrete details have emerged regarding when carriers will start pushing updates out stateside, but the original announcement of ” before the end of the year” remains on track, or at least appears on track given the wide array of updates surfacing these past few weeks.
