Although ESPN is not the only channel on Sling TV it is one of the biggest. With this subscription and an antenna for local channels, cord cutters can still get a large fix of sports. Count in streaming TBS and TNT access with the plan and you’ll also see a lot of baseball and basketball — making this an essential subscription for sports fanatics.

For $20, you can watch a handful of channels, and there will be options to add some channels, but it will not be an à la carte option that lets users add one single channel. Here are the Sling TV channels.

  • TNT
  • TBS
  • CNN
  • Food Network
  • HGTV
  • Cartoon Network
  • Adult Swim
  • The Disney Channel
  • ESPN
  • ESPN 2

Overall there are a large number of places you can watch Sling TV including on your iPhone, iPad and Android devices and on a large collection of internet connected entertainment options. There is no Dish Sling TV Apple TV support, but it will work on the Amazon Fire TV, Amazon Fire TV Stick, Google Nexus Player, LG Smart TV, Roku set-top boxes, Roku Streaming Stick, Roku TV, Xbox One and on Mac and Windows PC.

The Sling TV service is one that most users will want to pair with Hulu Plus and Netflix or Amazon Instant video to round out the entertainment options if they don’t also have a cable subscription. With Sling TV, you will still see commercials, so don’t plan on an ad-free experience. You’ll be able to add channels with $5 genre packs and there are on-demand options as well.

Sling TV launches in January 2015 and does not require a standard DISH subscription. Check out more from DISH at CES.
