Over the course of the past few weeks though, more info has surfaced, the LG G2 Android 5.0 Lollipop update started in Korea, and now we have more details for owners awaiting its arrival.

LG still isn’t talking about the LG G2 Android 5.0 Lollipop update, but they’re making progress and working hard to deliver it to eager customers. Lately all the talk has been about Android 5.0 Lollipop for devices like the LG G3, but those with the older LG G2 haven’t been forgotten. We’ve seen a few LG G2 units stateside get bug fixing updates, ones that also could be paving the way for Android 5.0 to arrive, and below are some key new details about the LG G2 Android 5.0 update.

The LG G2 was released in September of 2013 and a few months later Google released Android 4.4 KitKat. The update took a long time to arrive, and eventually caused a lot of problems for LG G2 owners. It was plagued with little issues that slowly have been fixed, but many are still anxiously awaiting Android 5.0 to deliver new features, an improved look, and to fix some of the bugs introduced with Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

In August last year LG confirmed the G2 would see Android 5.0 Lollipop, but when it will actually arrive in the US is still somewhat of a mystery. That being said, here’s the latest information.

This weekend T-Mobile updated its community website where they detail incoming software, and changed both the LG G2 and LG G3 Android 5.0 updates from development, to “T-Mobile Testing” meaning the updates have been completed, and they’re under the final testing phase before they begin rolling out to all owners.

We’ve seen the LG G3 Android 5.0 update arrive for many carrier devices in the United States, but T-Mobile is one of the few still awaiting its arrival. Today though, that’s changed and it’s now being tested and could start arriving as soon as sometime this week. That said, the LG G2 Android 5.0 update is under the testing phase as well, so owners can expect to learn more on that front at the same time. Most likely the G3 update will hit users smartphones first, followed by the LG G2 in the near future.

That isn’t all we’ve heard about the LG G2 Android 5.0 update either. For now it’s only arrived in Korea, but a tweet by LG India confirmed the LG G2 Android 5.0 Lollipop update is coming in Q2, which is anytime from now, and over the course of the next few months. We don’t have a solid release date, but with India, T-Mobile, and others all preparing the G2 update, more information should surface soon.

The update from Android 4.4 to Android 5.0 Lollipop is a big one, full of changes and improvements, but there’s also a new Android 5.1 update that was recently released by Google as well. So far all we’ve heard is about the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update, so we’re expecting that to arrive shortly, followed by the Android 5.1 update later this year.

At this point we still don’t have an exact date regarding the LG G2 Android 5.0 update, but with T-Mobile already in the final stages of testing, we should be hearing more sooner rather than later. Stay tuned, as the update should be here soon enough.
