The highly anticipated US Samsung Galaxy S6 release date is confirmed for April 10th and pre-orders are now live for major carriers ahead of its release. With that in mind, we want to take a look at the most important things we think T-Mobile Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge buyers need to know ahead of the T-Mobile Galaxy S6 release.
Last month, Samsung took the stage at Mobile World Congress to announce the all new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. The two flagship smartphones replace the Samsung Galaxy S5 and join the Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge in the company’s fight against top Android rivals and Apple’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Samsung’s new Galaxy S models are tempting propositions and as we creep closer to release, many buyers in the United States are beginning to take notice.
Major US carriers have confirmed the most important Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge release details including the release date, colors, storage, pre-orders, and price. T-Mobile is one of those carriers.
The UnCarrier was quick to confirm both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge and a short time ago, it confirmed many of the pertinent details that potential Galaxy S6 buyers need to know about. Thing is, there’s a whole lot of information out there and it can be a lot to digest, especially for those that haven’t been keeping tabs.
With that in mind, we want to take a look at the most important things to know about the T-Mobile Galaxy S6 release date and some of the smaller details that we think you need to be aware of as we march closer to the T-Mobile Galaxy S6 release date.
T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Pre-Orders Live
This is your final reminder ahead of the T-Mobile Galaxy S6 release date. The carrier is currently taking Galaxy S6 pre-orders at its stores and via its online portal. So, if you’ve already decided on either the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge or both, you can put in an order ahead of their release date next week on April 10th.
They Are Limited For The Moment
Now keep in mind, T-Mobile’s Galaxy S6 pre-orders are actually limited at the moment. The carrier is currently taking pre-orders for all of its black and white Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge variants but pre-orders for the gold models remain limited.
The carrier’s 64GB gold Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge models are currently up for pre-order but the 32GB and 128GB models are currently listed at “Coming Soon.” We’re still not sure when the carrier will release those variants so if you’ve zeroed in on any of those four variants, you’re going to need to remain patient.
We’ve seen some delays for the Sprint and Verizon gold Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge variants as well so we could see these four T-Mobile models miss the April 10th release date and arrive later on this month.
Galaxy S6 Pre-Orders Arriving Early
T-Mobile Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge pre-orders are already hitting doorsteps. We’ve heard from several people who already have their device, in hand, days ahead of the April 10th release date. T-Mobile said that it would get pre-orders out ahead of April 10th but no one expected the carrier to deliver these devices this early.
If you put in an early order, be sure to check your tracking status because there’s a good chance that your device is already on the way. And if you’ve already decided on one of these devices and you want it as soon as humanly possible, you might want to think about putting in a pre-order. There are some reasons to skip the pre-order but if you can check those reasons off, you’re good to go.
You Can Try Them Out Right Now
It’s worth noting that you can go hands-on with these devices, right now, at select T-Mobile locations. We highly recommend going hands-on before buying your next smartphone, be it the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge or something else.
T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Retail Options Limited
It’s important to know that T-Mobile’s Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge retail options are going to be limited. Amazon and Best Buy, two major retailers, won’t stock the T-Mobile versions of the phone and we may not see them show up anywhere but T-Mobile stores and authorized retail locations. So before walking into Best Buy, note that you’re not going to be able to buy one there.
Galaxy S6 Edge Price
T-Mobile’s Galaxy S6 Edge is way more expensive than its regular Galaxy S6. That’s the case at T-Mobile and it will be the case wherever these devices are sold. There’s no getting around it right now and there’s probably no getting around it in the future either. The curved display commands a premium price point.
What this means is that you absolutely need to make sure that you actually need the curved display. Most people are probably going to be fine with the cheaper, regular model but others will fall in love with the device’s curves. Before committing to pay nearly $1000 to T-Mobile for the Galaxy S6 Edge, make sure it’s necessary.
T-Mobile Jump vs. Payments vs. Off-Contract
We’ve put together a T-Mobile comparison that looks at the pros and cons of buying the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge on T-Mobile Jump, installments, and off-contract. If you need help deciding between the two, we highly recommend taking a look at those details.
Three Color Options, For Now
T-Mobile will sell the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in three color options: Black, white and gold. Again, some of the gold Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge variants could come late.
No word yet on the green or blue Galaxy S6 variants and it’s possible that those will arrive much later in the year, if they arrive at all on T-Mobile. Remember, Samsung is well known for offering exclusives to carriers and retailers so unless you’re dead set on blue or green, you’re probably not going to want to sit around and wait. It could be months before we see these hit the United States.
Tons of Galaxy S6 Accessories
T-Mobile will a number of Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge accessories in stores on day one and those interested can find them here on the carrier’s website. It’s a nice mix of official and third-party accessories.
Keep in mind. Amazon has a ton of Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge accessories on sale right now and we’re expecting companies like Mophie and Lifeproof to release their wares in and around the T-Mobile Galaxy S6 release date as well. You’ll definitely want to shop around, especially if you’re looking for a deal on some brand new accessories.
T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Deals
Finally, it’s worth mentioning that there is at least one T-Mobile Galaxy S6 deal that you should be aware of ahead of its release and it comes from the carrier itself.
T-Mobile is offering a free year of Netflix, a $100 value, to those that pre-order the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge. The promotion will only last through April 12th so you have a limited amount of time to take advantage of it.
