Forza 6 Release: 5 Things to Know Before E3

Published

on

As we push deeper into the year towards E3 2015, fans of the Forza Motorsport series are starting to get excited. That’s because a Forza 6 debut at E3 is confirmed and it’s there that we should finally learn all there is to know about Microsoft’s next installment. With E3 just days away, we want to take a look at what you need to know about the Forza 6 release ahead of the big show.

Earlier this year, at North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Microsoft and Forza Motorsport developer Take 10 announced a brand new addition to the Forza series, a game that’s unsurprisingly called Forza 6.

Forza 6 will follow in the footsteps of the popular Forza Horizon 2 and it will likely do so with some big new additions including changes to the graphics engine. Forza is well known for its detailed tracks and cars and it looks like the developers will leverage the power of the Xbox One and produce a better looking, better handling game.

Microsoft and Take 10 purposefully did not announce all of the Forza 6 release details at the auto show, saving all of those details for another day. That day should take place at E3 2015 in Los Angeles later this month when Microsoft and its partners show off what they’ve been working on behind the scenes.

With E3 2015 just days away and excitement starting to build, we want to take a look at a few things you need to know about the Forza 6 release from Microsoft and Take 10.

Forza 6 at E3 2015

Forza 6 is one of the game’s that Microsoft’s confirmed for E3 2015. It’s still holding back on some others, Gears of War for instance, but we know for sure that Forza 6 will be making an an appearance during one of the biggest video game events of the year.

At this stage, we’re expecting the game to be introduced during Microsoft’s 90 minute press conference on June 15th. It’s there that Microsoft will be looking to make a big splash and impress current Xbox One owners and those who have been thinking about making the leap to its latest console.

Microsoft’s press event starts at 9:30PST on June 15th which means that fans of the Forza 6 series will want to drop what they’re doing and tune into the big announcements. Given what we know about the Forza 6 release date, Microsoft and Take 10 will likely run down a ton of pertinent details there and throughout E3 2015.

Forza 6 Release Date

The exact Forza 6 release date is unknown but there’s a very good chance that Take 10 and Microsoft will confirm a specific date at E3 2015.

We know that the game is confirmed for 2015 and that it will be coming out sometime in the fourth quarter. Q4 stretches from October to December which means that Microsoft will be deploying this game in time for the holiday shopping season. That’s not surprising whatsoever.

Right now, smart money is on a release in November, the same month that Microsoft released Forza 5. We’ll probably know for sure in just a few short days as Microsoft sets up prospective buyers with dates and details.

What We Know About the Game

Microsoft and Take 10 have managed to keep many of the game’s details under wraps ahead of E3. That said, we could certainly see Forza 6 rumors emerge before the press conference so you’ll want to keep an eye out. Here’s what we know about the game so far though.

We know that Xbox executives are excited about the next Forza installment. One executive was quoted back in February saying that from what he’s seen “no one is gonna be disappointed about that game.” Xbox executives obviously are going to be excited about Xbox exclusives but it does look like Take 10 will make some big changes.

In April, Microsoft told GameSpot that it will be showing off something currently known as”Forzatech.” Forzatech is apparently the in-house game engine Take 10 is using for Forza 6. Microsoft says that it will show the technology off at E3 and it’s expected to deliver improvements.

The game will also include a brand new Ford GT supercar that will be available to drive in the game. The car is the star of the game and it will feature prominently on the game’s box design.

Xbox 360 Forza 6 Release

If you own an Xbox 360 and you tune in to watch all of the Forza 6 announcements, know that you’re most likely not going to see Microsoft confirm a Forza 6 release for the aging console.

Forza 6 will, like Forza 5 was, be exclusive to the Xbox One with no plans for a release on the last-gen console. Likewise, this is a Microsoft and Xbox One exclusive so it will not be coming to the PlayStation 4.

Early Forza 6 Deals

If you’re already set on buying Forza 6 ahead of its E3 2015 debut, know that you can already pre-order the game. You should also know that there is at least one Forza 6 deal to look at ahead of its release later this year.

Best Buy is offering $10 in reward certificates to those in the My Best Buy program that pre-order the game ahead of its release. This is the only early Forza 6 deal that we’ve been able to track down in the buildup to E3 though we expect to see other deals emerge as we get closer to its release date.
