GTA 5’s GTA Online Gets Ill-Gotten Gains Release Date

Video game developer Rockstar Games is finally ready to reveal the release date for Ill-Gotten Gains Part 1, the all new update coming to GTA 5’s GTA Online multiplayer. According to a new post out today, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4 and PS3 users can look expect the update on June 10th.

Rockstar Newswire, the official source for all news related to GTA 5 and GTA Online announced the new Ill-Gotten Gains release date this morning. Detailed last week in a post by Rockstar, Ill-Gotten Gains adds a slew of swanky and ostentatious gear for GTA Online players to spend all the money they earn from heists, missions and Rockstar verified jobs on. Those luxurious extras include designer wraps for vehicles and gold-plated aircraft.

Ill-Gotten Gains will begin rolling out to GTA 5 on every system that it’s available on the same day, according to Rockstar. The developer is promising to continue updating users as the different versions rollout throughout the day since Microsoft and Sony are responsible for making the updates available directly to users on their platforms. The Ill-Gotten Gains update will be free for everyone to download, regardless of platform. This week’s update is only the first part of the Ill-Gotten Gains lineup. Rockstar has plans for at least one other Ill-Gotten Gains update sometime this summer.

To celebrate the arrival of Ill-Gotten Gains Rockstar is hosting an event through its multiplayer experience. Beginning June 12, the Rockstar Social Club will hold a special Ill-Gotten Gains Social Club Event Weekend. Participating in the event will earn users extra RP points. The more RP points users earn, the more abilities they unlock in the game. There’ll also be opportunities to earn extra in-game cash, according to today’s post. The event will last until June 14th.

Though the update is free, the upgrades it contains are not. We don’t know pricing yet on that gold jet, but it’s likely to reach into the millions. There’s a tour bus and a new line of expensive cars with gull-wing doors also included in the update. A new gold-plated Combat Personal Defense Weapon is among the new firearms coming to the game’s Ammu-Nation stores for purchase. Hundreds of new pieces of clothing and accessories are also set to arrive in the game’s various retail outlets. How much of those clothes are special Heist gear and how much is just stylish street wear remains unclear. GTA Online has its own in-game currency.

It’s probably a good idea to start planning jobs and heists now in preparation. Rockstar plans to show off all the new extras in a livestream on its Twitch profile starting at 8PM Eastern Time on Sunday night.

GTA Online is the free online multiplayer that comes included with every version of GTA 5 ever sold. The game’s story mode focuses on the lives of three main characters and the people around them. GTA Online lets players create their own character.

Since launching the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game back in 2013, Rockstar has kept the game updated. Last year Sony’s PS4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One picked up versions of GTA Online and GTA 5 complete with upgraded graphics and a first-person camera mode that lets users become their player instead of seeing them on-screen in the third-person. Back in April Rockstar released GTA 5 and GTA Online for Windows PCs.

To get the Ill-Gotten Gains update users will need their console or PC connected to a fairly decent internet connection. The PC version of the game still costs $59.99 from retailer GameStop. New Physical copies of the game for Xbox One and PS4 are available at the same price.
