Street Fighter 5 Beta Release Date: 5 Things to Know

Published

on

A number of new Street Fighter 5 release details emerged at E3 2015 in Los Angeles including details about the Street Fighter 5 beta. With those details in mind, we want to take a look at the most important things prospective buyers need to know about the highly anticipated Street Fighter 5 beta release.

In early December, Capcom officially announced a new installment into the Street Fighter series dubbed Street Fighter 5. The game is also stylized as Street Fighter V.

The announcement was a big one for fans of the fighting game genre though the company’s initial announcement was void of many important details. In the months since the game’s reveal, we’ve seen a number of new details trickle out and earlier this week, fans of the Street Fighter series hit the mother lode.

At E3 2015, Capcom confirmed several important Street Fighter 5 release details including information about a Street Fighter 5 beta release that will be taking place later this year ahead of the mysterious Street Fighter 5 release date. A beta is a huge deal for fans because it allows them to help Capcom test for bugs and problems while playing the game ahead of its public release.

With a Street Fighter 5 beta confirmed and a release date getting closer, we want to take a look at the most important things you need to know right now about the Street Fighter 5 release date and its beta. If you’ve been following along, this will refresh your memory. If you haven’t been following along, this will catch you up to speed.

Street Fighter 5 Release Date

Before we get to the Street Fighter 5 beta, we want to take a look at the game’s public release date.

Capcom still hasn’t announced an official PC or PS4 Street Fighter 5 release date though the game is expected to be released to the general public in early 2016. That said, we do have one big clue.

Street-Fighter-5

According to the company’s earnings report, the company plans to sell two million copies of Street Fighter 5 before the end of its fiscal year. Capcom’s fiscal year ends on March 31st which means that the game should be out before April begins. This is why retailers like Amazon are using March 31st as their placeholder Street Fighter 5 release dates.

Street Fighter 5 Xbox One Release

Street Fighter 5 will be released for PC and PS4 but it will never be released for Xbox One.

According to a report from GameSpot, Capcom has no plans for an Xbox One Street Fighter 5 release and the game will remain exclusive to the PlayStation 4 and PC.

But the reality is that this is a real partnership. We are console exclusive for this franchise for this numbered run.

Owners of the Xbox One should not be holding out hope for a surprise Street Fighter 5 Xbox One release. This is a business deal and Xbox head Phil Spencer has made that clear.

There will be no Street Fighter 5 release for Xbox which means there will be no beta for Xbox One.

PS4 Street Fighter 5 Beta Release

At E3 2015, Capcom announced the arrival of a Street Fighter 5 beta release. The beta is going to arrive in a few short weeks and it will be open to those who own a PS4.

Street-Fighter-3

Capcom’s public Street Fighter 5 PS4 beta starts July 23rd. Those interested in signing up will need to pre-order Street Fighter 5 from an official retail partner. A list of those can be found here.

The first Street Fighter 5 beta will be a large-scale beta and it’s aimed at helping Capcom catch problems ahead of the game’s release. We expect to find out more about the PS4 Street Fighter 5 beta as we approach its release in late July.

PC Street Fighter 5 Beta Release

The PC Street Fighter 5 beta release won’t happen in July. Instead, Capcom says that the first PC beta will take place sometime this fall after the beta for the PS4. The company did not offer a specific date and it’s not clear when it will make an announcement for PC users.

Street-Fighter-2

For now, the company wants PC owners to know that they can “get access to the online beta by pre-ordering Street Fighter V on Steam.” It also says that this will be the first PC beta phase which implies that we’ll see more betas arrive before the public release date in early 2016.

New Street Fighter 5 Teaser

At E3 2015, Capcom released a new Street Fighter 5 teaser trailer that confirms two characters ahead of the beta and the game’s public release date.

Cammy and Birdie, two well-known characters in the Street Fighter series, have both been confirmed for Street Fighter 5. The video above will give you a good look at their outfits and moves.

We expect to see more Street Fighter 5 release details emerge as Capcom and Street Fighter 5 players progress through the beta towards the game’s release.
