iPhone 6s vs. Galaxy Note 5: 5 Things We Learned in June

Published

on

For months, we’ve heard rumors about an Apple iPhone 6s and a Samsung Galaxy Note 5. June was extremely busy for both rumored phones and today we want to recap what we learned about this rumored but likely iPhone 6s vs. Galaxy Note 5 matchup from Apple and Samsung.

Last fall, Samsung and Apple took their respective stages to announce brand new flagships for the holiday season. At IFA 2014, Samsung detailed the Galaxy Note 4, a big-screen fourth-generation phone that offer a new stylus, better software and a number of high-end hardware features. It wasn’t the only high quality big screen smartphone to hit shelves in September though.

Apple released two new iPhone models in September including a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and a 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus. The 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus is a direct competitor for the Galaxy Note 4 and a thorn in the side for Samsung, a company that long dominated the big screen smartphone sector.

This isn’t a battle that will be ending anytime soon, at least not according to the rumor mill. Throughout the year, we’ve seen Samsung Galaxy Note 5 rumors and iPhone 6s details emerge at a breakneck pace as we push towards the fall. The month of June was especially busy as the rumor mill spun several intriguing stories regarding both phones.

With June in the rearview mirror, we want to set you up for July and today we take a look at how the iPhone 6s is matching up with the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 as we press on into the summer months.

Their Predecessors Are Still Good

Their Predecessors Are Still Good

Before we get into how the iPhone 6s and Galaxy Note 5 rumors stack up as we push into July, it's worth pointing out that both of their predecessors, the iPhone 6/iPhone 6 Plus and Galaxy Note 4 are still excellent phones and worth a look if you don't want to wait through a barrage of rumors in the buildup to the fall.

We've been using the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and the Galaxy Note 4 since their release last September. All three are still holding up nicely as we push into the summer and we think that all three are worth a look right now ahead of the iPhone 6s and Galaxy Note 5 launch.

These phones are getting older but it's important to know that all three of them stand to improve in the near future.

The Galaxy Note 4 is rumored to be getting an Android 5.1.1 update later this month that should help to stabilize it ahead of a likely Android M update in the future. Android M is Google's new OS and it's focused on performance in key areas like battery life.

As for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, they'll be getting iOS 9 this fall and plenty of iOS updates in the future. iOS 9 is set to bring them some key upgrades including an increase in battery life.

These phones have a lot of life left in them and they're worth a look in July and August, especially when prices start to dip and especially if Galaxy Note 5 and iPhone 6s rumors aren't impressing you.
