iOS 9 Release: What We Know So Far

Published

on

With an iPhone 6s launch date now all but confirmed, we can narrow the iOS 9 release date down a little bit more. With a release likely coming within the next few weeks, we take a look at the most important things to know, so far, about the iOS 9 release for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

In early June, Tim Cook and his fellow executives took the stage to outline a number of new software products including an El Capitan update for Mac, Apple Music, and an iOS 9 system update for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

iOS 9 is iOS 8’s successor and it’s confirmed for all iOS 8 powered devices including the iPhone 4s, iPad 2 and iPad mini. Like iOS 8, the iOS 9 update will be coming with a number of new features and enhancements including a tangible battery life boost for the iPhone.

Shortly after the conclusion of WWDC 2015, Apple released an iOS 9 beta for developers. A few weeks after that, the company unleashed a public iOS 9 beta available to anyone with an Apple ID.

Apple still hasn’t confirmed a public iOS 9 release date for those not in the beta program but it’s clear that we’re getting closer and closer to an announcement and the arrival of Apple’s iOS 9 release.

Armed with new information, we want to take an updated look at what we think iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users around the world need to know about the iOS 9 release including its features, release date and the new devices that will likely accompany the update to shelves.
