Activision will start to send out the code you need to start the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta download at 12:01 AM Pacific on August 19th for PS4 and 12:01 AM Pacific on August 26th for PC and Xbox One.

This is different from the key that you got when you pre-ordered Black Ops 3, so make sure you register for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta.

There is a rolling start to the Black Ops 3 beta.

Before you wait up to download the game and be one of the first regular gamers to play Black Ops 3, you need to know that you might not get your download code at the start. Activision confirms that the beta tokens will go out by email on a rolling basis.

If you pre-ordered on the PlayStation Store or on the Xbox Store you don’t need a code or token, and can start right away.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Beta Download Size

Expect a hefty Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta download size.

There is a lot in the beta, so the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta download size is pretty hefty. Activision confirmed that the beta is about 15GB. This will take a while to download, even on a good connection.

If you start the Black Ops 3 download at midnight, you might not be able to play until an hour or two later, depending on your connection speed.

There Will be Black Ops 3 Beta Downtime

There will be some downtime during the Black Ops 3 betas.

This is a beta, and it focuses on multiplayer so there will be some Black Ops 3 beta downtime during the two beta periods as the company delivers updates. It is not clear if you will need to download any updates or if all the changes will be on the server, but Activision warns, “Because this is a Beta, periodic maintenance will be necessary throughout the gameplay period.”
