MacBook Air Deal Offers Great Discount for Back to School

If you’re looking for a good MacBook Air deal, Best Buy might have you covered, as you can potentially get $250 off a new MacBook Air.

Back to School deals have been on the rise, especially as we get closer and closer to the start of the school year, which has already begun for plenty of students. Apple has had its own back to school sale up and running for a few weeks now, offering a free pair of Beats Solo2 headphones with the purchase of a new Mac, on top of the education discount that students can take advantage of.

Even B&H Photo has some back to school deals of its own, offering big discounts on MacBooks and iPads, offering up to $280 off an iPad Air and $300 off a 2014 15-inch MacBook Pro that comes with a 2.5GHz Core i7 processor, 16GB of memory, 512GB of flash storage, and 750M graphics for $1,999.

This can be a great alternative to Apple’s back to school deals, especially if you won’t really use those free headphones. Instead, you can get a hard and fast discount on a MacBook or iPad.

However, Best Buy has gotten into the fun and is offering some sweet deals on the MacBook Air for students. Right off the bat, you can get a 2015 13-inch MacBook Air for just $849, which is $150 off the normal price tag. This is the entry-level 13-inch model that comes with a 1.6GHz Intel Core i5 with 4GB of memory and 128GB of flash storage.

The discount doesn’t stop there, though. You can grab a $100 discount coupon from Best Buy as well. All you have to do is sign up for back to school deals from Best Buy and you’ll receive a $100 off discount coupon that you can enter in at checkout when you buy a MacBook Air. This will give you a total of $250 off a MacBook Air, dropping the price down to $749 for that new 13-inc model, which is an absolute steal.

This ties Apple’s own back to school deal, with a $50 education discount on top of the free $200 pair of headphones, but if you don’t want the headphones and would rather just have a cash discount, Best Buy’s deal is something to consider for sure.

Of course, if you take advantage of that discount, you’ll be getting an entry-level model, which only comes with 128GB of storage for all your files. An external hard drive can be great, but there are ways to get by with 128GB of storage pretty easily without resorting to extra storage that you have to carry around with you.

You can still go ahead and buy a MacBook with more storage, but if you’re not sure how much storage you’ll need, or even what screen size you should go for, we may be able to help with that.

However, if you can, you may want to wait for next year’s MacBook Air, since it could be a major overhaul for the thin and light notebook. Apple released its new 12-inch MacBook earlier this year, which is essentially just an overhauled MacBook Air more than anything, and it gives us an idea of what Apple may be prepping for next year’s MacBook Air refresh, as the new 12-inch model could be an experiment and a hint for what’s to come.

Then again, the MacBook Air isn’t the best notebook for every college student. Depending on your major and the type of work you’ll do on your computer while at college, you may need a more powerful MacBook, which is where the MacBook Pro comes in. It sports a thicker frame and is a bit heavier, but comes with a lot more power for those engineer students and graphic design students.
