iPad Pro Price Rumored to Stun Wallets

The iPad Pro is set to be announced later today during Apple’s iPhone 6s event, but new rumors keep rolling in about the new tablet, with the latest report detailing the iPad Pro price.

The iPad Pro is expected to be Apple’s new flagship tablet, hailing a larger 12.9-inch display with the same thin body as the iPad Air 2. It’ll be the company’s newest addition to the iPad lineup since the iPad mini, which was first introduced in 2012.

Unlike in year’s past, Apple is expected to announce new iPads during it’s iPhone 6s event later today, which is a bit different than how the company used to do it, where they would hold a second fall event in October to announce new iPads. This is a bit odd, considering that Apple already has a full plate with the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6c, the Apple TV 4, and possibly watchOS 2, which could be unveiled today as well.

In any case, today’s event could be a big one as far as the number of new products we’ll see from Apple, but the iPad Pro will likely be a big item on the list, and now there are new details about the tablet as we’re just hours away from Apple’s keynote.

According to 9to5Mac, the iPad Pro price will start at $799 for the base model, which certainly may seem steep, but it’s said that the base model will come with 32GB of storage instead of just 16GB. Plus, the larger display alone will add a considerable heft to the cost of the tablet.

Going up from $799, the iPad Pro will also come in 64GB and 128GB storage capacities, selling for $899 and $999, respectively.

Furthermore, it’s said that the iPad Pro will also have LTE models that will likely cost $130 more than their WiFi brethren, which means that a 128GB LTE iPad Pro would cost a whopping $1,129, which is almost the same price as the base model Retina MacBook Pro.

We’ve predicted for some time now that the iPad Pro certainly wouldn’t be a cheap device, and it certainly wouldn’t match the iPad Air 2’s price, but rather cost a couple hundred dollars more, even for the base model, so hearing these price isn’t too surprising.

On top of the iPad Pro price rumor, Daring Fireball‘s John Gruber reinforces the belief that many people have had since the iPad Pro was rumored to announced today, saying that there are “little birdies” who all claim “that there’s only going to be one Apple event this fall” and that one Apple event is today, where the company plans to cram in a ton of new product announcements.

However, out of all the new products that Apple is likely to announce, the iPad Pro will probably be a big one. It’ll be nearly an entirely new product for Apple, and it’s said that the tablet will come with a lot of new features that the iPad has never had before, including stereo speakers, NFC capabilities, a Force Touch display, and even USB-C connectivity.

It’s likely, though, that Apple will target the iPad Pro toward professionals who work out in the field, such as photographers and graphic designers, as they can take full advantage of the larger display and newer features, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see a lot of hardcore iPad users upgrade to the iPad Pro when they get the chance.

Now, as far as an iPad Pro release date, it’s said that the new tablet will likely release in November at some point, with pre-orders beginning in October, so while new iPads will be announced earlier than usual, it seems that Apple is still sticking to the same release timeline that they’ve stuck to over the last couple of years.
