Now that we’re a couple of days removed from Apple’s iOS 9 release date, the smoke around the release is starting to settle. With clear vision, we want to take a look at a few important things to know about the company’s iPhone 5 iOS 9 update.

Last week, Apple finally confirmed a specific iOS 9 release date for select iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models. As expected, the iOS 9 release date was confirmed for the week after the iPhone 6s media event, great news for those interesting in what the iOS 9 update brings to the table.

iOS 9 looks a whole lot like the iOS 8 update but there are some major differences including an hour long battery boost for iPhone, a standout Notes app, a new News application, and a whole lot more. This update is stacked.

The iPhone 5 iOS 9 update rolled out on Wednesday and it represents the third major iOS update for the aging former flagship. And like the other updates, the iPhone 5 iOS 9 update comes with a number of big time upgrades.

In the two days since the iOS 9 release we’ve seen new and important iOS 9 update details emerge. And it’s those details that we want to share as we move away from the iOS 9 release date towards the month of October.

This iPhone 5 iOS 9 update roundup covers what you need to know about the current state of the update and it covers what you need to know about the update’s future as we close in on an iOS 9.1 release for the iPhone 5.

iPhone 5 iOS 9 Update: Two Days Later

We've been using the iPhone 5 iOS 9 update for a solid two days now and what we've found is that the update is mostly good. We'll start with the bad news.

The bad news is that there is still a little bit of sluggishness. Animations and transitions are still slower than we'd like and we've been dealing with the occasional stutter. Our hope is that these problems iron themselves out. It can take a major system upgrade a few days to settle.

Everything else is excellent. Battery life is outstanding, apps are working just fine and we haven't encountered any serious bugs. iOS 9 is clearly focused on delivering a solid performance after last year's iOS 8 debacle. We just hope the performance holds.
