Why You Should Buy the 128GB iPad Pro
The iPad Pro is rumored to release next week, and if you’re still deciding which model to get, here’s why you should buy the 128GB iPad Pro.
Apple announced and unveiled the iPad Pro back in September during the company’s iPhone 6s event, and while it keeps the same overall design as the iPad Air and iPad mini series, the new tablet comes with a much larger screen with a higher resolution than the other iPad models.
The iPad Pro sports a 12.9-inch display, making it the largest iPad that Apple has made yet. Its 2732 x 2048 resolution also makes the iPad Pro the highest-resolution iOS device in Apple’s lineup.
Of course, that’s not the only notable feature of the iPad Pro. The new tablet also sports the fastest processor that Apple has made so far. The A9X is only available in the iPad Pro right now, and the tablet also sports 4GB of RAM, which is twice as much memory as the iPad Air 2.
The tablet also comes with stereo speakers, meaning that there are speakers on the bottom and top of the tablet (or on both sides, depending on the tablet’s orientation).
In any case, the iPad Pro will come in two storage sizes: 32GB and 128GB. Here’s why you should buy the 128GB iPad Pro.
The way that Apple decided to tier the iPad Pro storage is a bit interesting and different than any of their other iOS products. Currently for other iPad models, Apple has 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage tiers, whereas the iPad Pro has only 32GB and 128GB models.
The 32GB model is likely for those who are more casual users and are likely to use iCloud and other cloud services for most of their needs, thus not needing a whole lot of storage for various files.
The 128GB model, on the other hand, is geared more towards power users who are very likely to use up that kind of storage space fairly easily, whether it’d be with photos, music, videos, or other documents and files.
The thing is, those are interested in buying the iPad Pro are likely wanting to use it for professional needs anyway, whether it’s a photographer, graphic designer, professor, or even just a college student. The iPad Pro seems like a tablet that’s more for producing content rather than as a consumption device.
This means that if you’re thinking about getting the iPad Pro, you’ll probably want the 128GB model anyway.
Those who are planning to use the iPad Pro in the workplace or in the classroom will probably fill it up pretty quickly. Photographers would want to store a lot of photos, and graphic designers would want access to their creations right from the tablet.
This isn’t to mention the apps themselves, as well as any games you might want to play on the larger screen (the iPad Pro can be both a work device and a play device).
Of course, a lot of apps don’t take up much space, and they’re usually under 100MB a piece, but a lot of apps also store additional data, like cache, history, etc, which can tack onto the storage. Plus, there are a few apps that you might want that could use a 1GB of space or more, like GarageBand or some graphic-intensive games.
Furthermore, if you want to store any movies on the iPad Pro, you’ll need to make room for those as well, since they can definitely hog storage without a problem.
In the end, I can easily see a lot of people buy the iPad Pro for their professional needs, but also for casual users who want to replace their laptop and use it as their main device, which means you’ll want way more than just 32GB of storage for all of your stuff.
