Holiday 2015 Deal Gets Buyers Free Xbox One & PS4 Games

Retailer Best Buy has some special savings for shoppers looking to get Xbox One and PS4 games over the next week for a bit of a discount. A special Holiday 2015 deal gets shoppers at its online site and store a completely free game when they purchase two games at regular price.

Best Buy announced its latest Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale for Xbox One and PS4 games earlier this week in circulars sent directly to homes and its website. The company is hoping that offering a free game will boost the amount of shoppers that come into its stores looking to make their console purchase at the same time as they’re picking up the free game. Both Microsoft and Sony have said publicly that sales of their consoles were very high on Black Friday.

“Increase the fun at your house with a wide selection of games for all tastes,” the notice of the Holiday 2015 deal on GameStop’s website begins. That notice itself calls out Fallout 4 as being one of the many titles that Xbox One and PS4 owners can get for free whenever they purchase two other games.

To be clear, the terms of this Holiday 2015 deal are pretty broad. Anyone that purchases two physical games at Best Buy gets another game at no cost. The third game, the game included in this deal, has to be of equal or lesser value when compared to the other two titles shoppers purchase. Also, the deal excludes some pretty important things. Digital game purchases aren’t covered. Neither are deluxe or collector’s editions of popular video games. This means potential buyers will still need to pay full price for titles like Halo 5: Guardians Limited Edition or Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Gold Edition. Best Buy is also ruling out the purchase of pre-owned Xbox One and PS4 games. The retailer began purchasing and reselling used games earlier this year.

Best Buy isn’t limiting the actual titles that users can purchase, even if they are fairly new. For example, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, Star Wars Battlefront, Fallout 4, Call of Duty Black Ops 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Just Cause 3, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, NBA 2K16, FIFA 16 and Madden NFL 16 are all included in the savings.

Independently from its Holiday 2015 game sale, Best Buy has other gaming related savings. It’s selling an Xbox One with Gears of War Ultimate Edition and a Lenovo Flex 3 notebook running Windows 10 for $499.98. The outlet says that the deal packs in $200 worth if the device were to be purchased separately. In many ways, that notebook is a perfect companion for an Xbox One user. Windows 10 comes equipped with an Xbox app that lets users share clips from PC games, add new friends on Xbox Live, shop for Xbox One games on the go and join Xbox Live parties when they aren’t near their Xbox One.

Best Buy is slashing the price of an Xbox One controller by $20 when users purchase an Xbox One at its stores or website. Additionally, shoppers save 40% on three-months of Xbox Live. Xbox One Wireless Controllers start at $59.99. Three months of Xbox Live Gold is normally $24.99. All PS4 DualShock 4 controllers are just $49.99, whether they’re purchased with a console or not. The PlayStation Camera, which lets users add commentary to their video clips and video chat, is just $39.99, down by $20. The PlayStation 4 is pried at $299, down from $349.99 thanks to a temporary price cut nationwide from Sony.

All of these Best Buy deals expire on December 12th, when new deals take their place. Shoppers considering taking advantage of any of these Holiday 2015 deals should move quickly. The website itself lets users check to make sure what they’re looking for is available in a local store. If available, items can be reserved and picked up instead within an hour or so.
