Microsoft isn’t just seeking to gain some attention with a few minor deals on tablets and devices for one day only. Instead, it’s packing its best holiday sales into a 12 Days of Deals promotion that will see the Dell Venue 8 Pro marked down to $99.
To be clear, that $99 Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet is just the first day’s deal, according to an email sent to users. Microsoft will offer different doorbusters and deals to users from December 9th until December 20th. Of course, Microsoft is calling the deal on the Venue 8 Pro a “doorbuster” for a very good reason. Though users who show up early enough will get the device for just $99, comments made by Microsoft to The Verge indicate that only a very small number of users will get thethe discount. How small? Only the first 20 buyers in line.
Thankfully, Microsoft will continue discounting the tablet throughout the day. Those who aren’t among the first 20 Dell Venue 8 Pro buyers will get the tablet for $199 “while supplies last.” While the ad itself indicates that only 10 users will get this price per store, the same Microsoft spokesperson who spoke to The Verge indicated that some stores will have more than 10 devices at $199. They also confirmed that the Microsoft Store website will offer the Dell Venue 8 Pro to 100 users for $99, then up the price to $199 for as long as stock holds out that day.
The Dell Venue 8 Pro is a portrait-oriented tablet running with an 8-inch HD display, 2GB of RAM and a Intel ATOM processor. As its processor is a low-powered traditional processor, the Venue 8 Pro runs Windows 8 not Windows RT. In short, users will be able to install traditional applications like Apple’s iTunes and more.
The Venue 8 Pro also sports a front-facing 1.2 megapixel camera and rear-facing 5 megapixel camera. Really, the only big problem with the Dell Venue 8 Pro is its lack of a full-sized USB port. Users will need a special dongle or optional accessory to interface with their USB devices.
