GottaBeMobile Reader Meetup Shaping Up Nicely

Published

on

The response to the GottaBeMobile Reader Meetup has been really good. We’ve gotten a great response from OEMs and ISVs with plenty of giveaways. In fact, I just received a box from Lenovo containing 20 2 gb flash drives. Active Ink Software is donating a license of their software, Forms2Base is donating a license of their software, Allegiance Technology Partners is sending some good stuff, TabletKiosk,  Microsoft, Samsung, Otterbox, and Motion Computing are getting in on the action, too. We have tons of shirts and stuff coming in from HP, OQO, TechSmith, Bluebeam, and more. GraphicResults.com is donating some specially made GBM T-Shirts for us, too. Wow – I’m gonna need a truck to get all that stuff to Pikes Perk.

I’m hearing from readers as far away as Florida who are planning on flying in and attending, and I’m expecting readers from Colorado, Kansas, and Wyoming. If you have been waiting to sit down and talk tablet with a bunch of others that share your passion, this is looking like the event to attend, even if you don’t live in the area.

What kind of hardware will be there? Let’s see: HP 2710p, Lenovo X61 ( both SXGA and multi-mode ), Samsung Q1P, Asus R2H, TabletKiosk i7210, OQO Model 02. I just got word that we’ll also be getting an Amtek T770 courtesy of Allegiance Technology Partners, and John is working hard to get us a Fujitsu T2010 to demo – no promises, though. That is only including hardware we’ve got – that doesn’t include hardware you all will bring and whatever else we might get between now and September 8.

I’ve got a couple of other things in the works with some OEMs that I can’t talk about yet, so stay tuned.

This is going to be fun – hope to see you there!
