What Are Legendary Marks?

Legendary Marks FarmingLegendary Marks are a new form of currency in Destiny. You need to have Destiny: The Taken King to get them.

Unlike some earlier in-game currency, Legendary Marks are connected to your account, not to an individual character. This means you can share the currency between all your characters in Destiny, no matter which one earns them.

Players can use Legendary Marks to buy weapons, armor and resources in Destiny: The Taken King from the Vanguard, Crucible and Faction vendors. This currency does not reset each week.

How to Get Legendary Marks

This portion will show you how to get Legendary Marks in Destiny: The Taken King. Before you start trying to earn them you need to reach Level 40. If you complete these activities and you are not level 40 you will not get any. Go level up fast and then come back to earn this new currency.

Bungie outlines six ways to get Legendary Marks in Destiny: The Taken King. There are some limits to the how much you can earn in a day or a week.

  1. Completing the Daily Featured Story mission once per account per day – 15 Legendary Marks
  2. Completing a match in the Daily Featured Crucible Playlist once per account per day – 15 Legendary Marks
  3. Completing a Strike in the Heroic Strikes Playlist up to 3 times per account per week – 10 Legendary Marks
  4. Winning a match in the Weekly Featured Crucible Playlist up to 3 times per account per week – 10 Legendary Marks
  5. Dismantling Year 2 Legendary weapons or armor –  – 3-5 Legendary Marks
  6. Some Quests will reward players with Legendary Marks, but only on first completion. – Varies

The Daily challenges are linked to your account, so you cannot play through with a character again to play through again and earn them a second time. You can however do this with Weekly Heroic Strikes.

While you cannot Farm Legendary Marks like you could farm Legendary Engrams back in the day, if you focus on the challenges you can get the currency fast in Destiny the Taken King.

Legendary Marks Problems and Limits

There are some Legendary Marks problems that users run into while playing Destiny: The Taken King.

We’ve seen some issues where completing a specific Daily Heroic did not deliver Legendary Marks to players as expected.

In cases like this the developer will often figure out a fix quickly and may be able to retroactively deliver the earned currency to players.

If you complete a mission and you don’t get marks, you may be under level 40, which means you cannot earn or keep them. Level up and try again.

Another potential problem is not getting them when you are over level 40 and complete a challenge. In some cases this is because you already have 200 Legendary Marks. This is the current cap, and you cannot hold more than that. Any marks you would otherwise earn are simply not recovered when you have 200 in your account.
